Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

BYOF me! Since I’m not in the States, this gift would be going to:
    1) My college roomie, Krystle, who I’ve known for almost 8 years now (scary thought!). We both call each other Boo, which started thanks to a guy who used to live on our hall.
    2) My friend Alicia, who’s been my buddy since our freshman year of high school.
    3) My friend Lauren, who I’ve also known since high school, but who I met when I was being a TA for my favourite history teacher.

I met my best friend mid year through Freshman year in college and she saved my life. My boyfriend who I had known for many many years and shared a ton of friends with had just dumped and I was so lonely. We’ve done all sorts of nutty things together, but really we’re close because we are both old souls even though we like to pretend we’re still kids even though we 7 of our own between us.

My bff and I met in strollers and I can’t remember her not being in my life. She’s really more of a sister. One of the dumber things we did together as kids was rewriting the lyrics to New Kids and Dj Jazzy Jeff songs and playing our ‘hot tracks’ on our own radio station (translation: out tape recorder.) :)

My BFFs and I met about 5 years ago in grad school. Meeting them was like coming home; there were actually others like me out there! We stay connected these days with a favorite activity we call supper club. We pick a theme (or occasionally go free-style) and we all cook a meal together with dishes pertaining to the theme. Fun is had by all and it gives us a chance to catch up while eating delicious food!

BYOF ME! My best friend and I met my freshman year in high school when I noticed some people make rude remarks about her. I hate it when people judge unfairly so I made a point to get to know here. 8 years later and here we are! We are kind of strange in that we love to play Settlers of Catan and read HP books together… or do anything that had to do with HP.

I met one of my best friends in 1st grade, we graduated high school together, were apartment roomies in college together, got married around the same time, mommies a little bit later in time, and now get to hang out often because we live in the same town. It’s pretty awesome. My other BFF is from working together for 10 years and having similar quirky outlooks on office life. Thanks for the chance to win!
