Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

We met in 4th grade and have been pretty inseparable since. What weird things do we not do together I think is the better question. She is also my roommate so we live together too!

Well I have two besties so this works out perfect! We all met in 7th grade and have seen each other through the absolute best, worst, and most embarrasingly awkward moments in our lives.

Me and my best friend Emily met in third grade at the tender age of 8…we are 26 now so it’s been a long time!! We have strange nicknames for each other: she calls me stephanit smart because she accidentally wrote my name that way one time (hehe) and I call her sorn from a strange book we read in a high school class together. Def weird but that’s us! Our adventures are too many to count, and the amount of inside jokes we have will probably keep up laughing well into our 90s! I love her and don’t know what’d I do without her!

I met my best friend almost 23 years ago. I remember the day we met, when she climbed into my family’s van wearing a bright pink foam visor she made for VBS. Thankfully, her fashion sense has improved over the years!

BYOF ME! :) I met my best friend six years ago in middle school band class, where we both played clarinet, but we didn’t actually become best friends until our freshman year of high school. The weirdest thing we’ve done together would probably have to be working together. Last summer she got me a job with her at Medieval Times Atlanta, and it’s been a blast. :)

My bestie and I met in kindergarten so we have known each other for 30 years or so. Our weird thing is that as adults, we can get caught up in our family life and months will go by without hearing from each other, but then, we chat and everything is back in place even though we live two time zones apart.

My best friend and I met when we were babies. By the time we were 2 or 3 we told our parents that we were going to be married. She would be the husband and I would be the wife. This is because she thought men didn’t drive and was afraid of driving cars.
We still joke with our families that we’ll be married one day!

It’s so funny that I recently was not able to go with my BFF on her maiden trip to IKEA. I told her all about it and then said that she must also get the Swedish meatballs because they are a good protein source for power shopping. Last week we went to the Williamsburg ReHabitat store and as we pulled into the parking lot she turned to me and said, “Hey, thanks for suggesting that I eat horse meat at IKEA”. I don’t know if you read that recent article about horse meat in their meatballs….what’s important is that she forgave me for my unfortunate suggestion! I think a $100 gift card would put me back in the super plus column!

BYOF ME!!! Best Friend and I met during high school. Our parents knew each other through work and suggested we hang out. I have known her for over half my life and we have very different lives – she is married with kids and I am still single and out n’ about. I talk to her almost everyday on my way home from work and take trips with her and her family. She is the sister I would absolutely choose for myself.

She has done, and continues to do, more for me than I can even believe. Being able to share an IKEA BYOF card with her would be just one small step in attempting to repay her for all the blessings she has bestowed upon me.

I met my BFF in 7th grade (though technically we were in a dance class together when we were 5). I admired the pins she had made for her shoes which quickly led to us finding out we lived a block away from each other if you hopped the fence behind my house and went through the very understanding neighbor’s yard. This later led to the neighbor actually installing a gate between their backyard and ours. They were really nice neighbors :)

BYOF me! I’ve had my best friend since we were three. Sometimes it’s like we have our own language because we don’t even have to say anything and we know what the other one is thinking. It’s pretty wild to have someone who knows you as well as we know each other. There’s something pretty special about sharing that kind of history.

BYOF Me! I met my BFF in good ole RVA! We moved to Richmond when I was going into 1st grade since my dad was being stationed in Norfolk. We quickly became fast friends sitting at the same table and sharing a love of playing pretend :) Even when I moved 3 years later every summer we nagged our parents until plans were made for us to visit each other 1-2 weeks out of the summer. (we moved from RVA to IN)

She’s the type of friend where even now as adults when we don’t talk as onfet as we’d like – whenever we do it’s as if we’ve chated every day since last time. We just click! My favorite trips with her have been to Disney World, Kiawah Island SC, and to NOLA after we graduated college (and attended each others graduations) Love that girl!
