Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

BYOF ME! I met my BFF at the bus stop on the first day of 6th grade. It was a gross and rainy day out so I had a hat on with all of my hair tucked under it and at first she thought I was a boy!

BYOF ME! My BFF and I have been acquaintances since the 7th grade, when I moved to town, but our friendship didn’t really solidify until we randomly went on a spring break trip together our sophomore year of college. After that, we’ve been inseparable, even though we now live about 800 miles apart. Our weird thing is trying to tell other people about the time we mistook twins for one person for the better part of two years. ;) No one EVER gets it because we can’t stop laughing long enough to tell it coherently.

BYOF ME! My best friend and I met when we were roommates together our freshman year of college. We are total opposites, but living together really cemented our friendship. Of course, having met in college means that we have all kinds of inappropriate inside jokes!

My BFF is someone I met in college. We were the same major (advertising!) and even worked together after. She’s Deth and I’m Balls (and this is such a long story so I’ll just let you think we’re weird).

And we both love Ikea more than words.

My bestie and I met in 2004 at our freshman orientation for college. Our inside joke is “it was all because of a little blue paper”. To fill you in, at orientation, they handed out little pieces of paper and we were supposed to find our match. My match was Samantha and we were instantly besites :)

BYOF!!!! My BFF and I met as college roommates. Eight years since graduation and we have yet to keep a phone conversation under an hour….usually keeping it under two is difficult. She also was with me during my first ever Ikea experience so she would definitely be getting one of the giftcards :-)

BYOF me! My BFF and I have been friends since junior high. We don’t do so much crazy stuff together now, but we used to sing some really rockin’ duets in the back seat of the car using hairbrushes as microphones.

BYOF ME! My best friends and I (they are twins) were born just a few months apart and lived our whole growing up lives on the same block, just 5 houses apart. We even went to the same college in WV. We have been separated by several states for many years now but I still consider them my best friends.

BYOF Me! My besties are my sister and a dear friend of 10+ years! My sister was born when I was 8 and as the only two girls out of a five-kid family, we’ve always banded together. My dear friend and I met at a college night visit when we were still in high school and bonded over cooking, our love of travel (we take an annual girl trip!), and all the ways we love to stay fit, including dancing of course.

BYOF me!!! My best friend and I met when we went in to college “blind” and luckily ended up in a 11 x 12ft room together. We hit it off immediately and even our suite-mates were surprised to know that we had only know eachother for a few weeks and had not grown up together. We were maid of honors at eachother’s weddings and now we’re raising babies together! So fun!

She gives great advice and loves despite my shortcomings. We did one time have a bubble gum eating (chewing?) contest to see who could fit the most in our mouths. I don’t remember who won, but there was a lot of bright pink drool involved . . .
