Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

    BYOF ME!

My two best friends and I met freshman year of college; we all went potluck with dorming (meaning we didn’t choose roommates, we signed up for the dorms and didn’t know who we would be living with until we moved in) and ended up living together through senior year.

My BFF and I met when we were suitemates in college. We became besties within a few months when we realized we are platonic soulmates. I call her Kelsey Louisabelle because I couldn’t remember her middle name once so I added one, while she calls me by my full name whenever I’m in trouble. We’re pretty weird, so anything we do is a weird thing, haha. Even though we live in Florida and Oregon, as soon as we’re together it’s like we never moved apart. :D

My BFF aka Bestie met 19 years ago in 8th grade, we often refer to eachother as “Bestie since 8th”. We met at school during our lunch period she was crying b/c she had just broken up with one boy for another boy so I asked her if she was ok, we have been BFF’s since then and we still laugh about the whole crying over boys incident today.

My best friend and I met in freshman year of high school b/c I was late to school. I forgot to brush my teeth, went back home to do it, missed the bus and my dad drove me to school. Our class was partnering up for projects and we were put together b/c she was the odd number in a group of 3 and I was late. The rest is history.

My BFF is my husband (ew, corny right?). We were friends in college until one day he woke up and realized I was a super awesome catch. Weirdest thing we do is waive our hands saying “adaadadaada” like the youtube talking twin video… ends arguments real fast becuase how can you not laugh? Could have come in handy while we did our first DIY project in our first home this last summer. We are BFTDDUP- “best friends til death do us part”. Bad acronym? Maybe?

BYOF ME! My bff/boyfriend and I met 12 years ago when we were on a double date with different people. Despite meeting under those circumstances, our general weirdness and similar upbringings brought us together. We’ve got way too many embarrassing inside jokes, but I will say that I’m certain he was a wizard in another lifetime :P

My BFF is my wife. We met in junior high kids choir. Granted, we didn’t date until after college, but we have old-school photos together which is fun.

We have weird nicknames for each other – Troll Queen and Troll King. No idea how we started using them, but they’re fun.

Through two marriages, two divorces, one remarriage, four moves and three babies – she is still my bestie, even long distance like we are now. She just had her first baby and I am driving to NJ on Thursday to visit them!!! :)

BONUS QUESTION: My best friend is of course my husband! My second in line though is my friend Amy whom I’ve known since we were babies…literally. We went to preschool through high school together and still talk and text regularly. We used to stay up late playing old school Nintendo which I still have! We’ve always been there for each other through all these years and she’s been a part of my earliest memories.

We don’t really have any weird things we do together, but we love horror movies, and we make it a point to see every one that comes out. My BFF and I met in our first year of high school. I was new to the area and we were instant friends. Though we have gone different ways in life, throughout the years we always pick up where we left off. Now we live 15 mins away and have kids the same age. We do family dinners at least once a week and have even more fun than we did in high school!
