Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My best friend is Lori – we came together to your MPLS book signing. We write a blog together. We talk on the phone constantly. Love her! We cheered together in high school. Our kids call us Aunt Lori and Aunt Ethne which is probably the best nickname of all.

My BFF in high school was like the opposite half of me. She passed away suddenly a couple of years ago, but I still remember dressing up as twins for Halloween and spending countless hours together over the summer. Even though we had drifted apart a bit over college, I still miss the fact that I can’t pick up the phone and call her to see how things are going and catch up on her life.

I meet my BFF in 1996. She showed up to the lunch room one day with my other friend who I already knew. We liked each other at first but weren’t that close until much later in life. Now we’re inseparable and text daily, if not hourly!

My best friend just happens to be my twin sister. We have something better than hand shakes or nicknames, that’s right, we have twin powers! Unfortunately that doesn’t mean we can feel each others physical pain or wake up and become our other twin (yes we have been asked that) but we are blessed to have a best friend and sister who we have literally gone through everything with.

I met my best friend in pre-school and, even though we haven’t lived in the same city since the age of 5, we (and our families) have stayed close friends ever since. When I first came home from preschool talking about her, my parents thought it was an imaginary friend! Now, 30 years later, we are having our first kids (both baby boys) within a month of each other. (And an Ikea gift card would be so helpful in setting up the nursery!)

My BFF Jessica and I met in 6th grade (about 26 years ago now – EEEEEKKKK!!!). I knew we were destined to be friends because we both had the most awesome denim boots ever that featured what basically looked like the back pockets of jeans. With me being a Jennifer and her being a Jessica, we got called each other’s names a lot so we decided to blend – my nickname is Jennica and hers is Jessifer.

My best friend and I met in college as random roommates. It was dork friendship at first sight! One thing, that is kind of embarrassing, but we both enjoy, is eating Dijornio pizzas and watching Twilight (the first movie). When it first came out on DVD, we watched it every Sunday night for like 3 months.
