Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

I met my bestie at the end of high school, when she hired me to work at a summer camp (yep, she was my boss!). She’s been my go-to gal pal ever since, and we now live in the same city again and our husbands are besties too. Lucky us!

I’m lucky enough to have 3 BFFs and many others who would probably fall in the category when a few years turns into forever. But my 2 longest BFFs are from high school, which means that we’ve all been friends for over 20 years – and that is insane!

BYOF me! I met my best friend 11 years ago at work – my first job, she was training me. It makes me laugh to look back now, because I met my husband there, fell in love, got married and had a baby, and she met her husband there, fell in love, got married and had a baby, too! And our husbands are best friends too, so I think it’s safe to say our sons will follow in our footsteps and be besties too!

    BBYOF ME!

My BFF and I met when we were in high school. She’s 2 years older than me and we worked at the local supermarket. She was (and still is) the quiet, reserved one and I’m the loud, over-the-top one and it seems to have worked out for us for over half our lives at this point. Fun little fact…we are born on the exact same day, 2 years apart. Every year since we met we try to have a little birthday celebration all our own on our actual birthday seeing as how ridiculously coincidental it was to meet a person who is not only born on your birthdate but also became your very bestest BFF.

I met my best friend when I was 15 and he was 17. We met at cheerleading, they wanted me to teach the captain of the football team to stunt. He goofed and we laughed for hours that first night. 6 years later we started dating after he came home from a tour of Iraq with the Marines, and 8 years after we met we married. He is the love of my life and we still laugh as much as we did that first night. We have been married 8 years this year and he is still my best friend.

Natalie and I met when we were 8! She and I have been planning our retirement since then. We’ll grow old on the same street and spend our days sitting on the front porch watching the world go by. In fact, she is a great artist and actually painted this scene for me years ago as a birthday gift :)

BYOF me! I met my best friend in college. I had heard her make a funny joke so, I decided to befriend her in our dance class. Everyone was sitting already so instead of getting up and walking over to her, I scootched my butt alllllll the way across the floor and introduced myself. It was ridiculous and exactly right for our crazy antics. LOL.

BYOF ME! My best friend and I met in fifth grade (18 years ago). We were enemies when the school year started because we were both fighting for the attention/friendship of a popular girl in class. One day the popular girl was absent, so my now-bestie and I ended up talking and getting to know eachother better. We’ve been pretty inseperable ever since!
