Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My BFF is my little sister, so I guess we met in the hospital when I was 5. Although we were most definitely NOT best friends for a good chunk of childhood. She stole all my attention and I know my parents pulled us off of each other more than once when we were engaged in epic death matches…

My BFF and I met 9 years ago; we both worked at Old Navy during college. We bonded folding a giant pile of wrinkled shirts at the graphic tee table every night. She lives in England now, so we only see each other once a year, but we email or chat several times a week. And my daughter is lucky enough to have “cool Auntie Sara” as her godmother. :)

BYOF me! My best friend Danielle and I have known each other since we were 12 … so almost 20 years. We have gone through life together … marriage, homes, and now children. Her daughter is 10 weeks older than my son. She was the first person that I told I was pregnant, even before my parents! She’s awesome. Plain and simple. Thanks for the chance!

We do have a funny handshake were we pound fists & then pull back with a gun & say “pew pew. direct. hit.” from the nerds in Sixteen Candles.

We just signed a lease for an apartment this fall & would definitely love to hit Ikea before we move in!

BYOF ME! My BFF and I met at work and have been friends for almost 8 years. Though we don’t get to see each other often we make the most of the time we do spend together. We have a tradition that we go to Ocean City every fall (after tourist season and before it is too cold) and we have also started hitting up Kings Dominion the Friday before the total summer season starts (Not yet overrun with families and kids) Some things that we can both look forward to. And the best part is, even if we haven’t talked in weeks/months, it’s like no time has passed when we get together!

I’ve got lots of best friends! most I met on a military spouse support forum, one I met freshman year of high school. We are all pretty boring and don’t do particularly weird things together. One of them though, I used to call him LQ… stands for liberal quaker. It had to do with an online quiz…. He’s not actually a liberal quaker.
