That was 15 years ago and we are still the same silly girls that we were back them although we now have grown up responsibilities!! We can really do anything together. We don’t have any weird handshakes but we can have full conversations with just facial expressions from across the room! I met my best friend in the 1st grade. It was a fabulous meet cute moment. I was wearing floral stirrup pants and her blonde hair was in a high pony. I asked her where she lived and she said she lived on the lake. I mentioned that I did as well. She then proceeded to explain how we were neighbors. I broke her ego when I said we were certainly not. There might have been a love hate relationship until middle school.
She still lives in our hometown and I in DC. Every time I come home there is the ritual dinner at our favorite Mexican Restaurant with Margs and Beer the first night I am in. Classic.

I met my BFF on a snowy January day when her family moved in to the house next door to mine. 30 years later, I live in DC, she lives in NYC, and despite our busy lives, we talk on the phone once or twice a month and reminisce about the Monopoly games we’d get to last all summer and talking via our bedroom windows, which faced each other.
