Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

BYOF ME! My BFF and I met while going to the same church. We had our babies around the same time, raising them simultaneously. We both have large families, both have twins and one of my daughters was born on her birthday.

I met my BFF at work when, as the new girl with no friends, I got up the courage to sit at her table during lunch. I’m so glad I did! She makes the best cupcakes I’ve ever eaten. Ever.

I met my BFF freshman year in high school, 16 years ago. We were on the gymnastics team and cheer squad together. She lives about an hour away now :( but everytime we get together or pick up the phone, it’s like we still see each other every day and we just laugh and laugh. LOVE HER!

I have 3 BFFs. I don’t actually have a lot of friends so the ones that I do have are very close to me. My longest BFF though has been my friend for over 11 years. We meet in high school and have stuck it out since. We have been through phases where we weren’t getting along but in the end we always work things out and resume our friendship. We really bond over pictures of cute puppies and the normal friend stuff.

My BFF Melissa and I have been friends for about 11 years. The best memory I have (so far) involves a canoe, lawn chairs, beer, my husband and a mucky bay in the Outer Banks. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. ;-) We always have the best laughs together.

I have the amazing fortune of having not just one best friend but an amazing group of the best friends a person could have. I met a few of them in 4th grade (some of them have been friends with each other since preschool!), a couple more in middle school and one more in high school. Through the years we’ve all worked to remain as close as we were when we spent every single day together growing up. I love them all too much to pick just one!

My best friend is actually someone I went to high school with but we were just acquaintances back then. We reconnected when we were thrown into co-hosting a baby shower for a mutual friend and have been tight ever since. It is so great to have someone in my adult life that I probably should have been friends with in my kid life. She is the greatest!

It is hard to just pick one best friend, since I have the pleasure of having a few wonderful friends, but I would have to say my sister is my best friend in the whole world. We have had our ups and downs but now that we are adults we talk like the little girls who use to hide under blankets late at night so Mom wouldn’t find us staying up late and talking.

My BFF, cheesy as it sounds, is my one and only husband Kendall. And we can’t even actually remember when we met for the first time. Sad! He moved into my neighborhood when I was 15 & he was 18 and we must have met hanging out with all the neighborhood friends. One of our favorite things to do together is laugh at the craziness we’re experiencing called “parenting”!

Ah my bestie and I met each other in 7th grade while sporting our awesomely bad Lenape gym uniforms. We’ve been through thick and thin together and have moved here, there and everywhere yet somehow pick up exactly where we left off no matter how long it’s been since we last talked.
We typically go by E and Z – or Mama from time to time and our standard is to offer a diet coke or recommend that we meet up for a “DC” and a pretzel. We know that for both of us, this will bring a smile to our faces.
