Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

I have been close to my BFF since she was born, because she is my younger sister. She is on of my favorite people to travel with, because we know each other so well. Its no big thing to share a hotel room for a week, ride in a car for two days straight, or ride to DC and make an Ikea trip :)

I have quite a few best friends and when I first read this I was racking my brain about weird things that we do…then I realized….oh me and my group of friends have actually created a “gang” and named ourselves according to the color of our cars and we get together every Christmas and “initiate” new people into our “gang”. Along with the initiation is a potluck, secret santa and usually some sort of superlatives/awards. Writing this down made me realize how weird we are.

BYOF me! My best friend and I met when her boyfriend (now husband) brought her to Ohio (she’s from PA) and he needed somewhere to put her so she stayed with me for the weekend. I knew we would be great friends. A couple of years later I bought a house and needed a roommate, so she moved to OH with me. It’s been a year and a half and she’s my very best friend! Our hobbies? Thrifting, antiquing, baking, smelling candles, netflix, shopping, and laughing. She left me to marry her now husband. But, she’s definitely my person!

I met my BFF in college many moons ago. It was her 1st year and my last, but we were room mates and only two months difference in age. We’ve seen each other through a lot. Unfortunately we live thousands of miles away and can only see each other every few years. Thank goodness for the internet!

“BYOF ME!” We met in middle school, about 20 years ago. Goodness, 20 years? We live on the opposite sides of the US, and only see each other about once a year. No matter how much time passes or the events that happen in life, whenever we pick up the phone, it ia just like I saw/talked to her yesterday. I’m very lucky to have found a friendship like ours.

My BFF and I met in high school in 1981. I knew her brother first, but then she began dating the friend of the boy I was dating and we bonded. Those boys are long gone history, but we’re still strong. Spoke with her 2 nights ago, she’s planning a trip to see me in a couple of months, and I can’t wait!! Maybe we’ll add an outing to Ikea Orlando when she visits?
