My husband gets very annoyed by the social pressure to be romantic on a certain day, the same as everyone else (by the way: dude is HIGHLY romantic so it’s not like he’s looking for an out) so as a couple, we don’t plan anything. But I know it is fun for my kids to enjoy the special-ness of any holiday, so I serve pink breakfast on Valentine’s day. This year, pink breakfast is going to be grapefruit, strawberry-banana smoothies, and homemade heart-shaped biscuits with strawberry jam.

JEWEL ME! Valentine’s Day is a pretty sweet day for us because my little girl was born on Feb 14th last year. She is one this year and will always be our best Valentine ever! You really can’t beat that! I hope we will go on a date this weekend though while my in-laws are in town to watch the kiddos.

I am heading down to Florida for the long week (it’s Family Day here in Ontario), so I am spending an ultra-romantic Valentine’s Day sharing a hotel room with my husband, my brother & his girlfriend in Buffalo before we catch a flight to Tampa at the crack of dawn on Friday morning!

Jewel me… Can’t wait to give the kids (ages 5 and almost 3) their Valentines. The theme was “random” but things my hubs and I know they’ll love! Cartoon bandaids, tall cups with twisty straws, rolls of colored tape, and craft supplies to make their own nameplates for their door. Happy Heart Day!
