Fab Freebie: Bamboo-tiful

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Who knew bamboo could be so beautiful? Well actually, the people behind Smock Paper did. They also know that bamboo is one of the most earth-friendly sources of paper out there. By relying on it, along with other recycled materials, and by incorporating other green practices into their shop, Smock Paper is truly a wonderfully sustainable operational located right here in the good ol’ US of A. Oh, and of course they make very pretty things.

Smock Cards

You may have already heard of Smock Paper from our monthly sponsor shout outs, and if so you probably remember them for their stunning letterpress greeting cards, party and wedding invites, and the like. Well they’re here this week to give one of you a sweet $100 shopping spree while introducing some new products to amp up your note-taking, gift-giving, and memo-jotting adventures.

Smock Jotters

Just like all of their other products, these colorful items come with an eco-tastic spin. Like the memo pad above whose letterpressed bamboo cover protects 90 sheets of 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Or the cube of 700 sticky notes below that also comes from recycled paper.

Smock Memos

While those items could dress up your office nicely, they’ve also got graphic beauties like double-sided wrapping paper, gift bags and even gift boxes that all boast punchy designs on recycled materials that would certainly dress up your next gift or look great in your home office.

Smock Boxes

Now let’s get on to how you can enter to win:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on Smock Paper’s website
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BAMBOO ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since Smock makes items to help you keep notes, why not share your current note-keeping habit with us. Do you keep a pad on your desk to jot down phone numbers or random thoughts? Do you keep some scrap paper in your purse just in case? Or are you high tech and rely on a voice recorder or phone app to help you remember stuff?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 1st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States AND Canada!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

BAMBOO ME! I love to write To Do lists each day (but, regretfully, they are almost always overly ambitious!). I usually write it on this ugly wide-spaced paper that I have at work – I would love something pretty to keep my life more organized! And maybe I can start actually accomplishing those To Dos! :)

I scribble down notes on a scrap of paper, then usually transfer them to their respective places on the computer or my iPhone when I have a moment at the end of my work day (to-do list, contact information, calendar, memos, etc.)

I have an agenda that houses all school-related To-Do lists and then two mini notepads – one on my desk for day-to-day stuff: grocery and shopping lists, project inspiration, etc; the other is in my nightstand for that just-dropping-off-to-sleep moment of inspiration or reminder.

That said, I’m all about scrap paper or old envelopes… whatever’s handy in a pinch!

I have an “organized chaos” notekeeping system. Work stuff goes in a notebook assigned by project, home stuff goes in a binder, and everything else goes on random scraps of paper. This system worked a lot better when I had a pad of post-its to keep things anchored, but now that I’m using the note cube, for some reason some things are getting lost….

At work I’m a yellow pad person all the way – every phone call gets noted.
For all other appointments I have an appointment book that gets work and home stuff marked – my phone has the capablitity but I really like seeing it all laid out on paper!

I wish I were more organized than this, but I generally end up writing on the back of receipts I find in my purse, ha! However, I do my grocery list in an Excel spreadsheet I built because it keeps me much more organized and I spend much less money with an organized list.

We recycle copy paper that has been printed on & make it into a notepads. All you need to do is pile your paper together neatly. Put a heavy book, brick on top of paper then PVA-Glue one side of the pile. Makes a perfect notepad.

At work I have notes everywhere, and I use my outlook calender to remember both work and non-work related stuff. I usually have a little notebook in my purse I can jot down stuff I need to buy, etc. I also set my phone alarm to remind myself of things I need to do later in the day, so if I’m at work when I remember that I need to pay a bill when I get home, I’ll set my phone to remind me of it later). It drives my husband crazy when he hears my alarms going off, but otherwise I would forget to do so much. Wow, I take a lot of notes.
