Fab Freebie: Bamboo-tiful

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Who knew bamboo could be so beautiful? Well actually, the people behind Smock Paper did. They also know that bamboo is one of the most earth-friendly sources of paper out there. By relying on it, along with other recycled materials, and by incorporating other green practices into their shop, Smock Paper is truly a wonderfully sustainable operational located right here in the good ol’ US of A. Oh, and of course they make very pretty things.

Smock Cards

You may have already heard of Smock Paper from our monthly sponsor shout outs, and if so you probably remember them for their stunning letterpress greeting cards, party and wedding invites, and the like. Well they’re here this week to give one of you a sweet $100 shopping spree while introducing some new products to amp up your note-taking, gift-giving, and memo-jotting adventures.

Smock Jotters

Just like all of their other products, these colorful items come with an eco-tastic spin. Like the memo pad above whose letterpressed bamboo cover protects 90 sheets of 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Or the cube of 700 sticky notes below that also comes from recycled paper.

Smock Memos

While those items could dress up your office nicely, they’ve also got graphic beauties like double-sided wrapping paper, gift bags and even gift boxes that all boast punchy designs on recycled materials that would certainly dress up your next gift or look great in your home office.

Smock Boxes

Now let’s get on to how you can enter to win:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on Smock Paper’s website
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BAMBOO ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since Smock makes items to help you keep notes, why not share your current note-keeping habit with us. Do you keep a pad on your desk to jot down phone numbers or random thoughts? Do you keep some scrap paper in your purse just in case? Or are you high tech and rely on a voice recorder or phone app to help you remember stuff?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 1st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States AND Canada!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

Impromptu work notes are scribbled on scratch paper cut into postage-note size pieces. If the notes get extensive, I’ll bind them and have a mini-note book!

I have a notebook at work that stays open on my desk and I write down what I need to work on. For personal reminders, I usually write it on a sticky note and stick it in my purse to remind myself when I get home from work to do something. I also use Evernote to keep track of articles and blog ideas.

I’m coming to the final pages of my current notebook though, so I’ll be needed a new one soon. And these Smock Paper options are gorgeous!

I constantly buy small pads of paper. I’m definitely a note jotter downer and have them scattered about the house! I also keep a journal by my bed so that when a creative thought keeps my mind working when I should be sleeping, I have something to write it down lest it keep me thinking all night long!

As an engineering grad student, I’m take lots of notes for classes and research. As someone with a horrible memory, I write everything down that I possibly need to remember. When possible (almost always), I try to reuse paper that had only been used on one side previously.

I love my Droid since I can share my google calendar to organize schedules with my husband for personal appts/trips. But, for day-to-day lists and work-related stuff, I’m still old school and use a paper planner that organizes my life and many to-do lists. I also have lots of post-its scattered around my entire office and in my purse. As a last resort, I use the time honored tradition of writing the most important things that I absolutely can’t forget on my hand… that way I don’t have to worry about losing the note. :)

I have notes EVERYWHERE! I keep a to-do list up via g-mail, I post things on my computer’s post-it note feature, I have a ton of scrap sheets of paper in my purse, AND I have a couple of notepads at home that contain inspiration, reminders, and quotes I love. I am working on consolidating them all… I think a Smock Paper note pad would do the trick, and they are far better to look at than my ugly paper scraps! Thanks for the great giveaway!

At work instead of recycling paper that is no longer needed and has only been used on one side we collect it into small stacks, cut it into quarters and put a staple in the top corner. The little note pads are a good size for jotting down notes at your computer and its nice to use the paper once more before it hits the recycle bin.

I keep track of shopping lists and all those annoying little “to do’s” around our place on a white board in our laundry room – the lists stare annoyingly until I can erase them with joy once the to do is…well…done. And the white board of course makes every tree out there sigh with happiness.
