Fab Freebie: (Anything But) A White Christmas

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.

Glidden Snowy House

But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.

Glidden Display

And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.

Glidden Back Of Swatch

But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:

  • PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

This year I was inspired with silver, gold and white in my holiday decorating upstairs. And I then inspiration struck with red and white in our rustic basement. But what I’m really dreaming of is a white Christmas!

    CAN ME!

I can’t really say a particular color that’s been inspiring me this Christmas – but it’s more a theme – natural materials for every bit of our Christmas decor. I am loving all the natural materials being used for ornaments and garland, so I’ve been using a lot of that. And vintage-inspired ornaments. I’ve gotten a couple very cute 50’s looking ornaments for the tree.

Oh, and your house looks FANTASTIC draped in all that snow!

Our holiday colors this year are a little different…pink, blue, and green! While this is not what I would have picked, I decided to let our 3 year old daughter pick out all new ornaments and decorations this year. She loves it, and thats all that matters to me!

I have a young son, so we tend to stick to pretty traditional decor (red and green) because it mixes in nicely with his homemade stuff!

I can’t get enough of silver, white, then throw in some shimmery blues. I think it has something to do with never seeing any white on Christmas, living in Florida and all. Heck, we’re lucky if it’s below 60 most years!

I’m firmly in the red/green/white camp. Love red/green plaid for creating that warm, festive feeling. In our formal living room, we do a burgundy, pink and silver theme. Very elegant, but doesn’t get me like the red/green plaid.

    Merry Christmas, Everyone!!!

I love the traditional red/green/gold combo, however over the past few months of looking at holiday decor I have converted to ‘spunky’lime green and red with a little big of silver!
We are moving into our ‘new/old’ house (a house we owned in the past – weird, I know) so paint will definitely be our main focus over the next month!
    Thanks~Nicole

I went a little brighter this year and did the fun holiday ornaments in glass vases around my living room. They had really fun pink, turquoise and green colors at Michaels. I spotted them while frame shopping. They will go on my tree next year, which is all white and blue as of now. Such fun holiday colors this year!

I am one of those weird people who LOVE snow! Sure I get sick of the dirty snow and having to parallel park in it in the city, but I still love it. :) For Christmas I am really into straw ornaments with red thread. It’s a Swedish thing. So simple and beautiful.

CAN ME!!! the color i seem to be drawn this year to is gold. it actaully started with your blog too. i saw how you used your candlesticks as decor by adding ornaments to the top. i found some oversized gold ornaments at target and voila, instant christmas decor to my blue glass candlesticks! it didnt hurt that i also had a bunch of gilter gold and blue ornaments that i put in a tall cylinder. the theme just kept going!

I go for white, silver, light and dark blues and some cooler gold tones to get in to the holiday spirit. Most of my year-round decorating is in the blue/green/gray family, so I like for our Christmas decorations to compliment the established scheme.
