Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

MARIGOLD ME! I think this was such a great question to ask–not only is it good to think about, but I’m enjoying reading others’ responses as well. A few things come to mind but one is that the rewards are so much more when I take my time working with kids as a teacher and a nanny. You just can’t rush them! Those are precious moments working with children as they grow, try to understand, and attempt at something. Seriously, good question!

I know it’s the trendy meal to create these days but beef burgundy is the perfect meal to prepare slowly and it cooks slowly too. The whole house smells great all day and it taste amazing.

I think that I always do a better job of cleaning when I take my time. I am pretty good at the 10 minute tidy everyday but I really need to take more time for a deep clean.

    MARIGOLD ME!

I love taking my time with a good book. When I get excited I read fast and skip words and end up not really feeling satisfied. To force myself to take longer, I put a big comfy over-sized chair in front of a 7ft window, with my favorite throw. Snuggling in with beautiful lighting makes it easier to take my time and get caught up in the story.

Wow, those are really beautiful. I’m checking out their website now.

I think it’s worth going slowly on house renovations. Taking the time to do a complete job and get everything square, finished, and sealed means it will look twice as good and last three times as long.

Getting ready for work is always better when I have enough time to slow down. Rushing around trying to get things done and stressing out makes for a munch longer day. I love taking the time to eat breakfast home and put on my makeup in the bathroom, rather than doing everything in the car while my husband drives.

I love having a slow morning as opposed to rushing off to work straight out of bed! I love having time to get up, walk the dog, read quietly, eat my breakfast and then getting dressed. This is all done of course by getting up early but it is so much better than sleeping in and starting a busy day without a quiet moment.

I am absolutely a fan of the slow food and slow clothing movements and try to look for the handcrafted or locally made option before turning to a big box store alternative. Reporting on working conditions in foreign factories has convinced me that fair trade is worth the extra cost. Love to see you guys working with brands like Saffron Marigold who are working hard to preserve these techniques and improve working conditions.
