Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    MARIGOLD ME!

We just moved into a new house, my slow indugence is taking my time to organize our belongings in a useful way, so as to make our lives easier. Rather than just throwing everything in a closet or cupboard I feel that taking my time will save me time in the long run. This way if is done right the first time I don’t have to unpack a closet or cupboard and reorganize it all over again.

This is pretty broad, but I am trying to take life slower this year. Somehow 2009 rushed by in a blink and I didn’t want that to happen again. To savor the year, I’ve been taking tons of photos and blogging about ordinary things. 2010 does seem to be going more slowly.

I feel like my relationships are always better when I take time. This lesson has been especially learned of late with my toddler. When I give her my full attention, no matter how late for something or messy or whatever we are, we are so much better at communicating with each other. And, a happy ending for both of us is so much more likely ;)

I love taking my time over meals. My family visited Italy once and it was fantastic that the restaurants let us take 3 or 4 hours over our dinner. Here, they would rush us out as soon as they can! At home, I try to use the same Italian philosophy – my husband and I take our time eating dinner and talking.

Slowing down is a hard one for me because I want to hit the ‘fast forward’ button to when my husband will be back home from a Navy deployment, but I do try to slow down and appreciate the little things that I can while he is gone: sleeping vertically in the bed, endless hours of HGTV, and cereal for dinner!

    Marigold Me!!!

It sounds like I may be like many of your other readers… I tend to cook and eat slowly. I’m not super confident in the kitchen so I take my time and read the recipe throughout the process. And my Nana taught me the importance of eating slow…Like myself she was always the last to the table since she served all of us and she said it was important to eat slow and enjoy what you have created. Converse with your family and friends, sip your drink, use your napkin and ENJOY your meal. :0)

Ooh, I hope I win! These linens are just gorgeous! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

i love scratch baking precisely because of the time it takes. (plus, it’s tasty). there’s something really satisfying about getting my hands into it, kneading bread doughs, taking the time to let it rise and do its yeasty magic. i feel similarly about food in general. homemade or handmade whenever possible. =) those linens are gorgeous!

Is it an okay answer that I don’t do anything slow but really, really want to change that? It’s the first year of my career as a young professional and I feel like I’m just running to get from one project to the next, whether it be at home or work. I want to slow all things down!

MARIGOLD ME! Wow, I love those prints, they are so pretty. I feel that almost any DIY project I do comes out better when I take my time. There have been many times when I wanted to quickly paint a room and skip the primer, but then I remind myself that the end product will be so much better if I don’t rush through it.
