Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    MARIGOLD ME!

I was going to write about how I love to crochet, it’s a recently learned skill and is thus quite slow, however what’s really slow is my ability to enter this giveaway – I’ve tried 3 times and my internet keeps cutting out so I’ll see how this time goes!!

I like to take a little time every day to enjoy something beautiful… whether it’s the weather outside, children playing, pretty flowers, my husband playing the guitar… anything!

MARIGOLD ME! Some of my favourite things are done slowly! I love making (and eating) Guiness Pasties and pot roasts. I also like making patchwork picnic blankies as presents for my mates – and they take a while!

    MARIGOLD ME!

I used to rush through everything – speaking before thinking, painting a wall before mulling it over…you name it, I rushed it. Now I realize I like who I am and the things I choose better when I take my time and really think about everything.

I sadly do not take my time in most of my projects, but when I recently was good and thought through the pattern when sewing my daughter’s summer hat, it turned out perfectly!

    MARIGOLD ME!

I have been SEARCHING for a 90″ round table cloth that doesn’t look like it belongs at a wedding buffet. So when I take my time to find something I love, as I have in my decor, I find great things like Saffron Marigold instead of jumping at the first thing that excites me.

‘Marigold Me’ – to savour a stroll on the sunset sand hand-in-hand with my Valentine, and then to walk to our favourite beach restaurant and enjoy a cool glass of ‘something-something’ watching the moon rise over the sea. Mmmm!

Cooking definitely improves when you take time to do it slowly. I also enjoy quilting by hand which is obviously slower than by machine — but I can control my hands a lot easier than the machine so it ends up looking lots better!

I take my time cooking, i’m not confident and MUST read the recipe twice before adding anything. My husband hates it as dinner takes longer than it should but its better that the end product be edible than well…. i’ll leave that to the imagination!!
