Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Marigold Me!

I like to slow down and take my time when eating. Also – since I have a newborn as well (born 5/5/10) I like to slow down and take time appreciating him and his tiny-ness – he is growing so fast!

and for the bonus question, i would have to say that the process of waking up in the morning is always better if i take my time- if i start off with a harried morning the rest of the day seems to follow suit! i prefer to spend my first morning minutes at the breakfast table with a few cups of hot, caffeinated beverage(usually tea), simple food (toast/yogurt/fruit), and plenty of time to gather my thoughts.

Cliche, but I ALWAYS take my time walking on the beach. I’m a bit of a beachcomber, so I search for beach glass and “treasures”. Also, when it comes to life, taking it slow can make everything better. Why the rush, world? Ha ha
I love this site, and I love these textiles! Keep up the great work!

Def. DIY projects. I have learn from my husband that it worth the time it takes to do a project the right way instead of justing rushing into it. Example when we paint the walls he has to fill in every hole and sand each wall before we can even prime!

There are so many things that fall into this category for me: slower driving (better mileage!), slower food (it always tastes better), and slower reading (I’m so used to skimming headlines; it’s refreshing to stop and really mull over some sentences).

    MARIGOLD ME!!

I love taking my time and exploring when I travel to a new city. So many people have to have an itinerary jam packed with things to do but my husband and I will pick the major things we want to do/see and then just wander around. That is how we found people surfing in a small river in the middle of a park in Munich, Germany! Something we never would have seen otherwise. We have discovered some of the most delicious food this way, as well!

    Those are GORGEOUS!

I take my time walking places. I live in DC, so I take public transportation everywhere I go, then walk from the metro. People are so bustly that they don’t pay any attention to what’s around them. I walk slowly, I look at flowers and clouds, I look up the streets toward the Capitol building or the Washington Monument (people who have lived here for longer than a few months stop looking at them, you know).

    I’m a stroller, a rambler… I don’t rush when I go places.
