Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    MARIGOLD ME!

Sadly, I don’t take many things in life slowly, but the one thing I always take my time with is my morning cup of tea that I savor for every last drop while I relax before starting the business of the day by showering, dressing, and beginning all the daily chores and errands.

MARIGOLD ME! I do a lot of things pretty slowly, but especially cleaning. There’s something very satisfying (and a little bit obsessive-compulsive) about removing every single speck of dirt!

What perfect timing for this freebie..my kids and I just started studying India today. We learned that Saffron is the orange color on their flag too! The linens are just beautiful.

You must take your time in an antique store – there are so many little treasures that are easily missed if you are rushed.

    Marigold me!

I like to read slowly so I absorb every detail. The first time I read a book, I am so excited to find out what happens next that I often rush through it, and I miss a lot. But I always do a second read-through, which I call my “detail read,” and I do that at a much more leisurely pace. It makes the book so much more enjoyable!

Planting flowers takes time and the plants respond when we’re more at peace. Carmelizing onions and browning mushrooms are best not to be rushed. And leave your meat alone on the grill — that I’ve learned, don’t keep turning it and fussing over it. Maybe this all can be applied to raising children — slow it down, listen, be the one who needs to be taught.

MARIGOLD ME!!!!!! ANYTHING you do for or with your children is worth doing slowly and enjoying every minute of, whether it is a mundane task or something fun. I used to find myself rushing through baths or other “everyday” tasks with them so I could supposedly get to a point of relaxation or quiet time. But they will not be litle for long, and someday we will wish they were still with us even if it meant we still had to wipe snotty noses or bottoms!

Marigold Me!I think painting a room is best done slowly from selecting the right color to taking the time to prep, using painters tape and drop cloths. A rush job will always result in the wrong color choice (think peptobismol pink) and splashes all over the woodwork and carpet.
