Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I laughed when you mentioned being a slow driver. I am incredibly slow at accelerating after a red light or stop sign because I try to save as much gas as possible. It drives other people a little crazy, but starting out slower is better for my car, the environment and my wallet!

MARIGOLD ME!! My grandpa taught each of his 13 grandkids patience by passing on his famous caramel recipe…cook ’em slow, no rushing! You have to take your time and stir till your arm goes numb, but in the end it is SO worth it! :)

MARIGOLD ME! Unoriginal, but I think food tastes so wonderful after you’ve taken the time to enjoy the process of making it, especially while enjoying some good music and a glass of wine.

    MARIGOLD ME!!!

I think that it’s important to take my time with sewing projects – they always come out best when I’ve gone slowly enough to measure everything carefully. Most of the time though, I admit, I just jump right in and rush ahead, and so all of my pillow covers and curtains are all an inch or two too small or too big…

    Marigold Me!!

I am pretty slow/meticulous (i.e. Perfectionist) when it comes to just about any project, whether it’s music, crafts, writing, organizing, emailing, or working on boring databases. (That is, until crunch-time of course!) I figure people appreciate the care and thoroughness, but It’s sometimes pathetic! (E.g. in elementary/middle school, I drove my art teachers nuts, always needing extensions for art projects–it takes time to draw every leaf on every tree!)

I’ve been labeled (correctly, I might add) as slow my whole life…not slow like dumb, just slow, like it takes me forever to do anything, especially getting ready to leave the house. So apparently I think just about everything is better when done slowly…

I think EVERYTHING is better when you take your time. I am not a multitasker, doesn’t work for me and just stresses me out. So I try to keep my life distilled to those things that really matter to me and that I can take my time with.
