Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

MARIGOLD ME! I need to slow down more when I eat. Easier said than done, especially since I’m eating for two at the moment :)

    MARIGOLD ME!

I take my time making my bed each morning. I love carefully tucking the edges of the sheets in place and making sure all the pillows are just so. Even if the rest of my day is in chaos, I have started my day off with a slow, peaceful moment. Plus, I feel like the pay-off of walking into my bedroom at the end of the day to a neatly-made bed is entirely worth it.

the thought process on any design concept, whether it is one piece of art to an entire room, is better when slow. inspiration may come in the blink of an eye, but beyond that everything needs to be thoughtfully placed. :)

I think pretty much everything is done better slowly…I’m a huge advocate of the slow movement. If I had to pick one thing, spending time with family is best done slowly. It’s better to just chill with them for an entire day or weekend rather than squeezing in a phone call on your 15 minute drive to the store.

I am usually in a huge rush to get to work or to get home at the end of the day. When I take my time and walk slowly instead of power walking, I feel happier and more relaxed.

I think life in general is just better when you slow down. My husband and I have talked about doing this for a few years and with our new puppy, decided now is the time. I have to say, I’m definitely a lot happier and enjoying the simpler things :)

Slow food: less quick and easy dinners and more foods made from scratch. We try to cook a lot (and freeze leftovers for busy days) and sit down to dinner as a family and enjoy each other.

As soon as the kids are down (like right now) I like to take my “me” time slowly. Of course there are days like the last few weeks that are completely crazy busy, but today and this week I will be slowing down “me” time and trying to relax…eating a late lunch slowly, browing the web, reading a book, looking at a magazine….Yeah for a little time to myself.

Marigold me! Everything is better slow (except maybe the work day…)! I think that meals are so much better when enjoyed slowly, preferably in good company! Everyone is always so rushed lately that sometimes even eating becomes a chore, but I don’t think there’s anything better than a long conversation with a good friend over a slowly-eaten meal!

Weeding the flower beds is definitely something that turns out better if I take my time. When I rush, there are so many little weeds I miss, and then it would have been better off if I had waited until I had more patience.

I think sewing should be done slow, or at least not rushed. I also find that when sew tired, that I usually have to go back and redo my work because it comes out sloppy. So it’s better to put a project down and take a rest rather than trying to hurry and finish.

I think taking my time and going to the farmer’s market is WAY better than just quickly grabbing produce at the supermarket. I always end up with much more flavourful dinners when I hit up the farmer’s market.
