Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I love taking my time when it involves quality time. I don’t get to see my family that often, but when I do, I like to take my time and enjoy every moment with them.

I always enjoy cooking when I have plenty of time to do it right. Otherwise, essential ingredients sometimes get left out, or other mishaps occur.

Sadly, TAKE YOUR TIME isn’t advice I live by very often. My husband and the kids take their time with everything from dressing to eating to telling me about thier day. While I KNOW I need to slow down, it always feels like I have SO MUCH to do.

    MARIGOLD ME!

I’m a perfectionist, so I like to take my time with most tasks (cooking, cleaning, tasks at work, reading, picking out birthday cards… I can be a slowww person!) to make sure they’re done right. “A stitch in time saves nine” is one of my favorite sayings!

I like taking time to decorate. If I had just bought everything that I liked when we bought our house we wouldn’t have come up with a design that was so “us.” Taking it one step at a time keeps things fresh all the time!

MARIGOLD ME! I love to bake, and one of the main reasons for this is slow and methodical rhythm inherent to a successful baking project. A good made-from-scratch cake takes planning, precision, and patience, but it also beats a from-the-box quick fix every time!

MARIGOLD ME!!! (please) I am a fast-paced, multi-tasker, but there are a few areas of my life in which I take my time: when doing yoga, when bicycling through my beautiful city of New Orleans, and when getting away with my partner – our ideal vacation is to sit by the water and do nothing.

Eating ice cream. Since I’m dieting (again) having ice cream is such a treat. wolfing it down in a hurry defeats the whole point. A scoop can last a long, long time if you try. And it’s so good that way!

I wish I took my time more. I do most things quickly because I value time over quality . . . However, I’m very willing to pay someone else for the time they spent on making quality items. Thankfully my husband takes his time doing everything, so I’ve enjoyed learning some from him.

MARIGOLD ME! I think taking my time in the “inbetween,” as I call it, is the most important to me. I have a hectic schedule, running from place to place. Even if I only have 10 minutes at home before I have to leave again, I like to stretch that 10 minutes as long as possible. Doing a quick clean, folding clothes, laying on the couch, read, whatever needs to be done at that moment to refresh. Every moment counts.

Being with children. It just goes smoother, more happier, if you take things slow & enjoy the p.r.o.c.e.s.s. instead of the final result (or think about the other zillion things you need to be doing). Just to slow down in the moment. It’s key.
