Fab Freebie: A Simplified New Year

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down for special discount and to see who won!***

If the words “simplify,” “organize,” “declutter” or “make more time for [blank]” will be showing up on your resolution list this year, boy do we have the giveaway for you. Simplify 101 provides all sorts of fun interactive tips and online workshops to help you achieve those goals, and this week a trio of you will win TWO free workshops.

Simpify 101 Giveaway

Our three winners can choose from any of the following workshops being held early next year: “Quick + Simple Clutter Control,” “How To Achieve Your Goals And Create A Life You Love,” “Organizing 101” and “It’s About Time: How To Have More Fun and Get More Done.” Oh and all of you can get a taste of Simplify 101’s helpful advice by downloading their free “How To Create A Command Central Binder” guide. We’ve also got a special discount ready to announce on Thursday, so check back for that in a few days. But enough chatter, here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any two Simplify 101 workshops being held in January or February.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SIMPLIFY ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us how you’re looking to simplify, organize, declutter, or streamline your life in 2011. We’d love some great ideas for our own list of 2011 resolutions.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 29th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

Before we announce our trio of winner, know that Simplify 101 is offering 15% off enrollment through January 3rd, 2011 with code SAVE15YHL at checkout. (Note: the “It’s About Time” workshop is currently offered at 20% Early Bird savings, so this 15% off can’t be combined with it)

On to our winners. The lucky three entrants that random.org chose are… Sarah Thimmes (who’s looking to organize her homeschool supplies and make more time for poetry writing), Kelsey R (who wants to really use her planner all year)and Tiffany (who just gave birth to baby girl on Christmas Eve. Wow!). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Simplify 101.

Each year I go one room at a time to purge and rethink my organizational strategy. It more or less works out to one room a month. I will stick to this strategy in 2011.

I’ve got an 8 month old baby girl, so it’s time to de-clutter the house (well, the parts she can reach), and get myself all organized so i can continue to be on time as she is more mobile and active – quite an accomplishment with a little one in tow!

    Simplify me!

A lot of life changes this year have me re-prioritizing my time and goals. Marriage, moving across the country, new job, etc. I don’t even want to think about having children until I can organize my life a little better! Can’t wait to develop new habits and use some organizational tools to bring the chaos to a minimum.

Simplify ME!! After nearly a decade of studying civil engineering, I finally graduated this year…and because it was such a demanding major (along with work, studying, etc.), I haven’t given my home the attention/priority it deserves..soooo, now that i’m done with school, I am getting rid of EVERYTHING I don’t use or need, and I want to turn my home into one that I truly enjoy( i mean it!!).

One of the main things I’m doing is every season I will get rid of all clothes/shoes/etc that haven’t been touched or used. Also, for every item I put in my closet, I am making it a rule to get rid of 1 item that hasn’t been used in the past 3 months or longer :)

IF I win this it was so meant to be. I am starting to think I belong on that show hoarders when I look into my garage or basement, which is not full of things I want but more of things that relatives gave us that they no longer use/want. I hope it will teach me to say “no thank you” and detach myself from the…oh you have to keep this…it was Great Grandma’s favorite doilie collection.

    Hi Young House Love Lovers!
My hubby and I have been married almost 5 years, have a 15 month old son, and still live in our first house. It was built sometime during the 30s/40s and then transported to its current site in 1968. We love ripping rooms out to beams and studs and rebuilding. I am a stay-at-home mom with a Mary Kay business, which I completely work around my son’s schedule. I would LOVE to have a stream-lined office and office systems, so that I can spend even more time with my baby boy. I am also a tear-round volunteer with Operation Christmas Child. My office houses Mary Kay, Operation Christmas Child, crafting materials, photos, and a guest bedroom. This is all in a 9 x 8 room! We have made space issues work, but I would love to learn about systems, systems, systems! I would definitely benefit from winning the contest!

Thanks for your blog and God Bless!
    Lyndse

My motto (or resolution…) for the coming year is “OWE less, OWN less”. So each friday I’m going to set aside some time to do our finances and go through our closets, cabinets, etc. and donate, sell, toss anything that I no longer need. These workshops could really help me put a system in place to make sure I follow through and finally free myself of debt and stuff!

My life has been a whirlwind lately. My husband and I got married about four months ago, decided to go back to grad school this January and then BAM! We had to move unexpectedly two weeks ago when our apartment flooded. Combining our “stuff” and then dealing with several moves (we are moving to a new city at the end of the month) in a short amount of time has left me itching for organization.

I began our decluttering and simplifying a few months ago when my “nesting” came on strong. I am due in 6 weeks and with only 800 sq ft in a California Bungalow…my husband and I had to really evaluate what we wanted and what we NEEDED.

My favorite piece of furniture that has allowed for us to have more space is the type of highchair we bought. We with with the Stokke Trip Trapp chair. This chair is modern and sleek and grows with the baby. Eventually the highchair turns into a regular chair that adults can sit on too.

Check it out, maybe your baby would like it:

Creating and sticking to a list of daily objectives, as opposed to a timeline which has failed me in the past. Every day is a new adventure (ahem) with a 3- and a 1-year old, so I want to be flexible without sacrificing my productivity. Maybe it works to do laundry earlier one day and later the next; as long as I get to check off the box by the end of the day, I don’t want to stress about exactly when stuff gets accomplished.
