Fab Freebie: A Simplified New Year

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down for special discount and to see who won!***

If the words “simplify,” “organize,” “declutter” or “make more time for [blank]” will be showing up on your resolution list this year, boy do we have the giveaway for you. Simplify 101 provides all sorts of fun interactive tips and online workshops to help you achieve those goals, and this week a trio of you will win TWO free workshops.

Simpify 101 Giveaway

Our three winners can choose from any of the following workshops being held early next year: “Quick + Simple Clutter Control,” “How To Achieve Your Goals And Create A Life You Love,” “Organizing 101” and “It’s About Time: How To Have More Fun and Get More Done.” Oh and all of you can get a taste of Simplify 101’s helpful advice by downloading their free “How To Create A Command Central Binder” guide. We’ve also got a special discount ready to announce on Thursday, so check back for that in a few days. But enough chatter, here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any two Simplify 101 workshops being held in January or February.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SIMPLIFY ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us how you’re looking to simplify, organize, declutter, or streamline your life in 2011. We’d love some great ideas for our own list of 2011 resolutions.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 29th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

Before we announce our trio of winner, know that Simplify 101 is offering 15% off enrollment through January 3rd, 2011 with code SAVE15YHL at checkout. (Note: the “It’s About Time” workshop is currently offered at 20% Early Bird savings, so this 15% off can’t be combined with it)

On to our winners. The lucky three entrants that random.org chose are… Sarah Thimmes (who’s looking to organize her homeschool supplies and make more time for poetry writing), Kelsey R (who wants to really use her planner all year)and Tiffany (who just gave birth to baby girl on Christmas Eve. Wow!). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Simplify 101.

SIMPLIFY ME! My husband will think he’s gone to heaven if I learned how to declutter. He just coined my decorating style as “thrift store.” So I guess my goal is to make our home look less like an overfilled thrift store and more like a kitschy retro cottage. We’ll see if I can.

I’ve got too much stuff. And not enough proper homes for it all. I go into something, like the container store, and I’m simple overwhelmed. I’m beginning to think I don’t know HOW to organize. I can’t make any particular system work for me. I need help!

I’m SOOOOO ready to SIMPLIFY ME!! I’m tired of reading the magazines every January about de-cluttering and organizing and seeing homes looking how I want my home to look. I rip out pages every year of easy to do projects and those just end up making it to the overstuffed cabinet. I want to take charge, learn to DIY and make my home as Nate and Oprah say have it “rise up and meet me”!!! I’m ready for this for 2011!

Simplify Me!!! We did a lot of cleaning out and decluttering in 2010. Only items we really love and use on a regular basis got to stay. 2011 will be time to figure out how to bette ruse our space and right now we are looking at finally decorating our family room.
Happy New Year and am looking forward to new house adventures with you!

    “Simplify Me!”

I am working hard to get rid of everything unnecessary in our home. I have started my own business almost five years ago and my house has been on the back burner (sadly!) since then. This year I can’t do it anymore. I am tired of living in a mess.

I have also bought a storage ottoman (thanks to your advice) and am looking to get at least one more. Hidden necessities are a lot better than necessities all over the table (and counter, and desk, and dresser, and floor, etc.)

I plan to simplify my life by getting rid of (like you all did before the move) 100 items from my home and if I find that to be a piece of cake, I’ll add 50 more items and so on and so forth until I have gone through every room in the house and paired WAY down…we have too much stuff. I don’t want to end up on an episode of Hoarders (just kidding, we’re not that bad, but I hate having 2 “junk” drawers in the kitchen when we really don’t need to have 2 “junk” drawers in the kitchen. I’m sure I could use them for other things.

I am working to use the week in between Christmas and New Year to turnover all the paperwork for our home/lives. This means lots of shredding and recycling as I get rid of all unneeded paperwork, and long-term filing of stuff that needs to be kept. The more we go electronic, the easier this will get!

SIMPLIFY ME! And that’s not an empty request. Each year I choose one or two words to serve as ‘guiding lights’ for the year. This year, one of them is ‘divest.’ I’ve started on a list of things that I want to let go off, in order to make room (both literal and figurative) for the things I want more off (serenity, for example, and connection with friends). Good luck with all of your forthcoming adventures in the new year.

My goal for 2011 is to seriously declutter my house. My fiance and I inherited his grandparents’ farmhouse and there is probably 60 years worth of stuff to go through. We so want to make our house more 20-something appropriate yet still keep the charm of the history behind our home. Our main Christmas present from both sets of parents was a very generous gift card to Lowe’s, but we have no idea where to start on our project list!
