Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

    Fab me!

    The quirkiest thing that makes me smile so much is a relatively large elephant figurine wrapped in recycled cotton fabric. I spied it in a furniture store and took a picture. I kept looking at the picture for months, so I knew that she had to come home with me!

    FAB ME!!!
    Our living room is full of color. Blue couch, yellow cabinet, tons of fun pillows. I collect little figurines from the 40’s/50’s and I think they make everyone smile.

    FAB ME! My favorite burst of color in our home is definitely the sunny yellow on the walls in the eat-in part of our kitchen. It’s painted over that wood paneling that looks like giant beadboard. The paneling was already painted when we moved in, but with such a boring color. The sunny yellow just makes me smile! :-)

    FAB ME!!!

    I have a Tangerine coloured Kitchen Aid Mixer in my kitchen and I am going to take it to the paint store and get some matching paint to make an accent wall I LOVE orange!!

    I have orange square bowls in my bathroom to hold misc items

    I love quirky and I am working on my husband to get him to love quirkier items for our house!

    FAB ME!!!! (Please!)

    I love one-of-a-kind items, so I have a lot of things I’ve hunted down and thought were unusual. Perhaps my favorite is a globe-shaped table lighter (a cigarette lighter that sits on a table). I’m not a smoker, but it’s adorably vintage and matches a globe detail on an art print I have in the same room.

    Fab me!!!

    Our weirdest art is my favorite Paul Revere “Boston Massacre” print that hangs in our dining room. We bought it on a special trip to Boston and love its historical significance (although Revere ripped it off from another artist/cartoonist) and who doesn’t love eating a meal next to a bloody shoot-out. No? We’re the only ones? ;-) (People actually don’t notice the gore.)

    A GINORMOUS Japanese fan(bought in Japan)hangs at an angle over my craft table. It’s odd and a bit oversized but it’s a beauty.

    FAB ME! I have an old metal dragon toy from my grandparents’ house that spits real sparks when you wind it up. I love that its sentimental and makes me feel like I live dangerously!

    FAB ME! I don’t know about quirky, but one of my favorite wall hangings is a piece of art from New Orleans. My husband and I picked it up on our first vacation and now want to make that a vacation tradition so I can’t wait to see what other cool art fills our house over the years!

    I wouldn’t say it was too quirky, but I have a white ceramic Jonathan Adler Hedgehog. I just love the bumpiness (is that even a word?) of the his backside. My husband on the other hand finds it a little cray, but I know he secretly loves it too. Thanks!

    FAB ME! I love my colorful plaid (red, yellow and green) throw pillows on my otherwise boring couch. I should actually probably join a plaid lovers twelve step program.

    FAB ME! I love our guest room — it’s a bright grassy green. Because it’s our first house and we wanted to! Plus my husband is a historian, so we love the bright colonial colors that said “Hey, I can afford the color saturated paint!” to the colonist, but to us say “I’m happy and fun and don’t look like any of the other rooms in your house!”

    Fab Me! My husband and I both lived in Spain. It’s where we met. We found this awesome gold statue of a Matador in a thrift shop and it now sits in our living room. We love ii!

    Hmmmm I don’t have as much weird and quirky stuff as i would like, but I bought this really high backed upholstered and wood chair that makes me laugh when I see it.
