Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

Fab me!! I’m a big chicken, so my home is pretty vanilla right now. I’d love an excuse to liven things up with a unique piece or 2!

FAB ME! We have an *awesome* authentic-looking Viking helmet displayed on our built-ins. I say “authentic-looking” because my husband actually picked it up in Mexico. But it has the two horns and everything. We have a rule for all overnight guests: you gotta get your pic in the viking hat!

FAB ME! I think the strangest thing we had people do for artwork is our fingerprint balloons we had done at our wedding. Now the fingerprint of all 150 guests we had hang on our wall in the office!

    Fab me!

I really like random art that reflects my personality and things that I like. I have a print from Etsy that is essentially a butcher map of a brontosaurus that is hanging in my kitchen. Fun and playful is my style when it comes to decorating my apartment.

I have an impressive collection on Elvis art. Most impressive, a wood-burning made for me by a very talented artist friend and a 4 foot tall portrait. Yep, I’m a little nuts for Elvis!!!

FAB ME! My favorite bold item is a piece of fabric that I used to cover an old canvas that had a painting from my childhood on it. The painting is super ugly, but really can’t get rid of something like that, so it’s covered with lovely fabric for my daughter’s room and no one knows what’s underneath.

There’s probably a lot more quirky things in my house than I even realize. Is there some truth about quirkiness being in the eyes of the homeowner or would it be a visitor? Hmmmm… The six of us are fairly quirky that’s for sure.

FAB ME! We recently “rescued” 19 small wicker ducks (yep!) from a thrift store and they’ve quickly become a beloved addition to our decor. Right now, they live in a built-in mirrored-and-backlit cabinet above our staircase, and I smile every time I see them!

our home is quite traditional with little pops of modern and fun things here and there. i must say, my most favorite colorful (well, at least one color) piece is our Ketubah from our wedding day. It adds a serious pop of purple and the custom papercutting (ordered it from an Etsy site…it’s awesome) melts my heart every time I see it. Not to mention the meaning behind it all, and the words it contains.

Fab me! While shopping for a new sectional recently I spotted a $1600 armchair that was marked down to $199. What was wrong with it? The orange/peachy colour. I loved the shape and it was so comfortable, so we took a chance and had them add it to the truck that would deliver our couch, figuring it would go somewhere and probably be kind of okay until I got around to recovering it. When we got home we were playing in the nursery and realized it would be perfect in there with the subtle, not-really-noticed-before peach accents on a quilt my mom made and a photo frame a friend gave us. Its just perfect in there in its peachy splendour.

There’s not a whole lot of quirky going on in my house. Which is strange, considering that my favorite description of myself is “endearingly quirky.” (I tell myself it’s endearing. No one else has actually used that adverb. Alas.)

My colorful/weird/quirky thing in my house is my three-canvas painting in my living room. I painted it because of a dream I kept having about it. Its a big green “swirly vine thing” and the background on the left starts out as very dark, then as it goes to the right with the “swirl,” it fades into a rainbow of bright colors, ending at the tip of the “swirl” with a white/yellow. Wow that was a mouth-full. Hopefully it makes a little sense! HAHA!

It had languished in the store due to its peach colour, but I loved the lines of it and it was super comfy, so I thought I could probably find somewhere in the house where it would work okay until I recovered it.
