Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

Fab me! The wierdest thing in my house has to be the picture I painted at a local Sip-n-Dip class my girlfriend and I took. A local artist picks something for us to paint and instructs us step by step on how to paint it. In the end the painting is suppose to look like hers. Well the artist chose a passion flower for us to paint. I love the colors they are bold and match perfectly with my bedroom decor. Well my girlfriend’s husband made the comment that the flower we painted looks like a Vajayjay and now that is all I see when I look at it. So my wierd thing in my house is a painting of a Vajayjay(passion flower). Don’t you just love it when guys can ruin a perfectly nice picture for you!

    FAB ME!

I love displaying natural elements in our home, which some people might consider quirky. A large piece of a redwood tree burl, which my husband beautifully sanded, lives on our mantel. Other items throughout our home include a bowl of shells we collected, a rock fountain, and pinecones.

I have a very quirky message holder. It is about 10 inches tall with a sheeps head and tail and four wooden legs with sandals on its feet but its body is chalkboard material and it has a piece of chalk tied around its neck. I love it and it has a place of honor on my kitchen island.

Fab Me! I love my embroidered hanging from Vietnam. I bought it from a street vendor in Saigon because I loved the colors. But my family thinks it looks like a Grandma smoking weed– not exactly the look I was going for– but the memories associated with it are just too good to not have it hanging in my living room!

FAB ME! Such a cool site! My current favorite is “The Little Prince” book ends that I got at a thrift shop. I have them in my guest room since my little prince (4 years old) and princess (seven years old) sleep there when they stay over.

FAB ME! We have a very large oil painting of my mother-in-law in our living room. She is a Olympic diver silver and bronze medalist. It is a painting of her by the pool in her swimsuit. It has the best aqua colors in it and well I just love her and her history.

We have this bright yellow, red and blue carnival mask from the Dominican Republic with crazy spiky horns. I’m not sure how they let my husband carry it home on the plane. Yes, his name is Santiago and he lives above our tv!

FAB ME! I am in love with having a little touch of quirky in my home. Recently my husband and I have taken to randomly placing little Playmobile sets around our house. We have a rock band near our stereo and a cyclist on our piano. They’re so tiny that you don’t necessarily notice them, but they have so many fun details and they make us smile.

We have a painting of our dog that is incredibly life-like and completely ridiculous since it hangs above our bed and assumes obsession with our canine. And don’t get me wrong, I’m obsessed with my canine, but it’s very comical to have a victorian-style painting of a dog : )

FAB ME!! Whenever I see anything at Goodwill made out of a beautiful fabric that speaks to me, I answer the call of the wild by bringing it home with me. The Goodwill bargain may start out as a blouse, skirt, or bathrobe, but it ends up as as a one-of-a-kind reupholstered chair seat, framed art, or a throw pillow with pom-pom fringe.

Our family has lived in several countries over the past ten years, so the quirky thing I love about our home is that pretty much every item on our walls has a story behind it or a memory. Nothing is just for looks. Our home is US – quirky family that we are.
