Psst- To anyone wondering about the vents, there’s more info on how we’ve dealt with those here. As for the electrical wire, ours guy’s coming out to get on that.

Yup, we told Steve about it before he began (we like to tell people just so we don’t feel like we’re hiding something from them). He seemed ok with it but probably still thinks I’m a little crazy to keep taking pics and calling John every five minutes. Hahah.

So exciting! We remodeled our downstairs a couple years ago since our house was built in ’75 when they loved to chop everything up into little rooms. It was so awesome to watch all those walls come down and then envision what it would look like finished. The not so fun part was being contained to our dining room. Can’t wait to see your finished product!

Wow that’s super exciting!! I can’t wait to tear down our kitchen wall next week! Just curious, what are you guys doing for kitchen space in the meantime? Is part of the kitchen blocked off with plastic and tape to keep the dust out? Is your kitchen temporarily relocated to another room? We’ll be making sandwiches and microwave meals in our living room throughout our renovation…ahhh reminds me of college.

Curious — is any of the wall paneling that came down good enough to reuse? Could be nice on the backs of your peninsula cabinets? (I am a sucker for painted paneling and bead board!)
Yup! We definitely plan to reuse it for the half wall and other parts of the room!

We recently sold our house. I remember you guys doing something thoughtful for the new buyers when you sold yours.. but, that’s all I remember! Can you give me the link to that post? Love all the kitchen posts!
We left them a bottle of wine and a folder full of lots of house info (warranties for everything, lists of products we used to seal the bathroom tile and clean the granite, etc) with a little note to enjoy the house!

That’s so sweet! Ours tried to leave us a vintage firetruck, a bunch of rocks in the yard, a large satellite dish, a broken above ground pool that was sunk 3ft into the ground for an “in-ground look”, some tires and grass so tall we had to bushhog it, because there was no way a mower could have cut it.
Best previous homeowner gift ever.
Holy goodness, I cannot wait to see you do this! I’d be totally intimidated by those vents and wires!
