Fab Freebie: Tek For Dads

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

According to random.org, the winner this week is… Kat (who celebrated Father’s Day with cards, dinner for her husband and a called to her dad). Congrats!

In honor of Father’s Day (yes, I realize it was yesterday, but why not keep the celebration alive?) we’re giving away – you guessed it – TOOLS. But these particular tools are Ryobi TEK4 tools, a series of ten cordless gadgets that look pretty darn sleek, are crazy durable, and run on a long-lasting 4V rechargeable battery. And come to think of it, ladies would look just as good slinging these guys (so they’re not just for dads). We picked our three most go-to devices from the TEK4 line and are giving them (plus an extra battery and charger) to one lucky guy or gal this week. So without further ado, your trio of tools: the Self-Leveling Plumb / Cross Laser, the Professional Stud Sensor, and the Compact Drill / Driver (and the handy battery they all share).

Ryobi Tek4 Giveaway

  • PRIZE: The three Ryobi TEK4 tools shown above, plus extra battery and charger.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “TEK ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … share with us what you did you celebrate Father’s Day yesterday. A special breakfast? A family dinner? A card from your dog (Burger makes me one every year). Maybe just a phone call to say “hello” to someone special? Or was yesterday just your average Sunday?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 22th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The contiguous 48 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Ryobi.

    TEK ME
I’m due in November with our first child. My incredible husband and I spent the day together making our game plan for tackling a full renovation of a house we just bought. It’s really just a shell right now and needs a lot of work: kitchen, bathrooms, damaged walls & doors, etc. Of course, our plan is to have it all ready for when the little one arrives and we are doing most of it ourselves! Wish us luck! :) Happy Fathers’ day!

My hubs and I sent cards to our far-away dads (from us and our 3 kiddos), and called them, too. I spoiled my sweetheart with lunch at his favorite restaurant after church and, of course, Father’s Night! (more anticipated than Father’s Day!)

The children and I made a special phone call on face time to “daddy” who couldn’t be with us. During face time we had dinner with him, he had his dinner and we had ours so that even though we are in different provinces we got to spend some quality time together.

TEK ME! My dad lives abroad, so not able to celebrate with him. However, my husband and I recently adopted a dog— so we celebrated his first puppy-dad-day with a hike up in the mountains to a gorgeous alpine lake. Dad and dog both had a great day!

Spent the day with my husband and our daughter at the town pool, then rode our bikes to an impromptu barbeque with neighborhood friends. The day before we celebrated Father’s Day with my dad as well, and we all ate and talked and laughed and just spent time together. It’s the little things. Really, really nice sometimes to just simplify.

OK — enough relaxing! Grab those tools, dear, that I won for you and get to work! ;)

I’m a broke graduate student this year so I went cheap. My dad is always sending me articles about eating foods rich in fiber and antioxidants (aka superfoods) and my parents have to travel forty minutes just to get to Kroger instead of a Wal-mart grocery, so I made my dad a basket of “super foods for a super dad” from Trader Joe’s with red wine, steel-cut oats, dried fruit, etc.

We went for a 15-mile bike ride, and only went that far because whenever I asked my dad how far he wanted to go he would say “farther than you.” So we went to the end of the greenway. And I let him go an extra six feet or so. :)
