In honor of Father’s Day (yes, I realize it was yesterday, but why not keep the celebration alive?) we’re giving away – you guessed it – TOOLS. But these particular tools are Ryobi TEK4 tools, a series of ten cordless gadgets that look pretty darn sleek, are crazy durable, and run on a long-lasting 4V rechargeable battery. And come to think of it, ladies would look just as good slinging these guys (so they’re not just for dads). We picked our three most go-to devices from the TEK4 line and are giving them (plus an extra battery and charger) to one lucky guy or gal this week. TEK ME! Even though my sons were both awake before 6am yesterday, we had a nice day at home. Of course I let their daddy sleep in. I made breakfast and lots of coffee, we went to church, painted Father’s Day cards at CMOR, played in our backyard, and had a nice family dinner.

My husband said for Father’s Day all he wanted was a nap and a special home cooked meal. So that’s exactly what we did! We also squeezed in a family trip to the pool (our two year old would live in the water if we let her), and rented a movie (he got to pick). It was just a low key fun day. Oh, and I made sure to call my own dad to wish him a happy day too!

Yesterday we spent the day down at the Lake Gaston. Then we came back to Richmond and stopped by a couple of thrift stores to see if we could find anything good. We scored a perfect console table for the new place! Sweet.

My sons (ages 4 & 22 months) & I showered the hubs with homemade gifts & treats (HELLO, brownies!) and had some old-school summer fun by way of our backyard Slip ‘N Slide. After showers, we went to the boys’ Papa’s (my dad’s) house to give him his presents & sweets, then enjoyed a grilled meal on my parents’ deck. Relaxed, good times… ^_^

We have our first baby on the way (here in September!), so to celebrate my husband’s 1st unofficial Father’s Day we had over some friends (who are also expecting!), played bocce ball and ate delicious summer food. It was perfect. My husband is becoming so handy and crafty (he works in insurance…) so I know he’d love this! :)

We went to visit my in-laws so they could play with our 14 month old daughter. They don’t see her often, so it’s always fun to watch them play with her. Then we went and picked up a cabinet we had spotted on Craigslist. Those are the two things my husband wanted to do for Father’s Day, and since it’s his day I couldn’t complain. :) We had a blast.
