In honor of Father’s Day (yes, I realize it was yesterday, but why not keep the celebration alive?) we’re giving away – you guessed it – TOOLS. But these particular tools are Ryobi TEK4 tools, a series of ten cordless gadgets that look pretty darn sleek, are crazy durable, and run on a long-lasting 4V rechargeable battery. And come to think of it, ladies would look just as good slinging these guys (so they’re not just for dads). We picked our three most go-to devices from the TEK4 line and are giving them (plus an extra battery and charger) to one lucky guy or gal this week. We had a father’s day/father’s birthday dinner. Normally we decorate a cake, but since we skipped that this year (diet), I decorated his steak in ketchup instead. Long story.

Special breakfast and dinner. My 3 year old and I made cards from construction paper and crayons. We also all went for a little walk together. Altogether, it was just a relaxing day at home. We also did a little skyping with Grandpas. :o)

I was going to stay in bed with a sinus infection, but instead got to go pick up my husband and kids who were cowering by the side of Interstate 64 with a broken down car. $120.00 later, the car was unceremoniously dumped at a reapir shop, and family in Richmond dined without any of us. I should have kept my date with the sinus infection.

Since we only have one four-legged child and no two-legged ones, the celebration was as simple as letting my husband have control of the remote to the HDTV all day long. He chilled out and watched the US Open golf tournament all afternoon (6 hours!) and then he and little Augie boy played with the putter afterwards. He hits the balls with the putter and Augie knocks them back to him. Pretty clever for a not-quite one year old kitty!

We celebrated Father’s Day by calling our respective dads. I had already given my dad his gift (some cherry vanilla ice cream from our fav ice cream place), so yesterday, we decided to take the dogs to the river. It was a lot of fun!

Needless to say, we are doing (learning to do) jobs around and in our house to save money. We sure could use the tools!
