Fab Freebie: Supper Management

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.

YouveGotSupper List

YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.

We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:

YouveGotSupper Burger

And now for this week’s giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

We try to mix in one new recipe a week with our favorites. We found quite a few that we love and a few that we will never make again.

I want supper! I would also love the gift card. When I go to bjs I buy ribs for my family and the neighbors. They pay for their half and we have the rub and bbq sauce ready. We grill and serve and sometimes the neighbors come over and eat with us…sometimes they don’t! Either way we all have a nice meal.

We mix things up with potluck barbecues on our balcony. We love entertaining, and cooking on the grill is the best! We throw everything on….meat, corn, fruit salad…you name it!

    I WANT SUPPER!

My hubs Matt makes dinner– we mix it up by using new ingredients as much as we can- like incorporating turnips and parsnips instead of just plain old potatoes, etc. We also try to eat only the stuff that’s fresh for the season!

    I WANT SUPPER!

I like to mix things up by making 1 new thing each week. With 3 kids under 5, it’s not always easy finding something we’ll ALL like to eat together, but a person’s gotta make something interesting once in a while. The rule is, one bite to try it – if you don’t like it, Mom makes a PB sandwich. :)

We’re both grad students and are working, so we consider ourselves lucky when we have more than two home-cooked meals a week… it’s the shopping that kills us.

So, yes, going to someone else’s house so they do the cooking is probably the least lame way we get out of it… otherwise we are a bit too close to a lot of takeout.

My favorite way to mix it up is “fend for yourself” night. This is essentially my way of telling the family that I am not cooking and we are not eating out, so open the fridge and find something delicious. Of course, this usually ends up with me making hot dogs and canned peaches for the young ‘uns, and then repeatedly responding with “Yes, it’s still good!” as my husband forages for leftovers. Yum!

I love to have potluck parties with friends where everyone brings a different dish (helps to have people designated in categories such as main dish, side dish, and dessert). Then you can exchange recipes and take home a delicious mix of leftovers!

    I WANT SUPPER!! (please)

To mix things up…well we’ve taken to making a game out of reading/reviewing the weekly circulars. My husband chooses his favorite store’s circular, and I choose mine. We take turns reading off one item that we feel is going to be on the other circular (but for more money). Whoever has the lowest price wins…kind of lame but it keeps things interesting and fun and we get to really learn which stores usually carry the cheaper (but still good quality) items. Mixing up things even more, we like to choose one new food each week to figure out (I mean cook/taste).
