Fab Freebie: Supper Management

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.

YouveGotSupper List

YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.

We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:

YouveGotSupper Burger

And now for this week’s giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

“I Want Supper”! I’m headed over there to check it out.

I HATE to cook. It is a task that I dread nearly every day.
Unfortunately, my family has to eat. Darn family!

    I WANT SUPPER…

Our newest favorite way to make it an easy night was learning to listen to our 22 month old son, Jameson. I made mac n cheese, hot dogs, beans and slaw for dinner one night. Jame chowed down on the mac n cheese and ignored everything else. When he was done, he looked at our plates and pointed with his cheesey fingers and said “Momma, more mac-y cheese?” So I gave him mine, and when he finished that off he pointed to my fiance’s plate and said “Dadda, more mac-y cheese.” Some Jimmer gave him the rest of his, which he polished off. As we were in the process of moving, easy meals were imperative, so less than a few nights later at the new house, I had two pans and a box of pantry items, including 2 boxes of mac n cheese. Knowing that pizza or fast food would have been a 30 minute ordeal, I boiled up some water, tossed both boxes of pasta in there, and in less than 15 minutes, we all three had HUGE steaming plates of “mac-y cheese” sitting in front of us. Then my fiance decided to make a mac-y cheese sandwich with some bread, and our new favorite meal was born. We’ve eaten it 3 times this month!

    I WANT SUPPER!

My favorite thing to do to mix up dinner is to see what kind of concoction I can make out of what is leftover in our pantry/fridge/freezer so that I can stave off grocery shopping for a couple more days.

I WANT SUPPER!! I’m a newlywed trying to be a perfect housewife. Lots of trial and error at my house but I’m trying!! I mix things up by revamping left-overs. Example: If I have left-over rice and beans, I’ll put in burritos the next day and its delish!

I would love to have more time in the day to think about/plan meals. By the time I get off work, pick up my daughter, and do things around the house I’m exhausted. Cooking is usually the last thing on my mind. A New Year’s resolution??? Cook More!

My fail safe is a Rachel Ray recipe for “Scramblewiches,” essentially eggs scrambled with smoked turkey, stuffed in a hollowed out baguette and covered with cheese and baked until the cheese has melted and the bread is crunchy. Super easy and delicious.

I want supper! And as a busy mom (yep, it’s true) I do need all of the help I can get. I like to do the breakfast switcheroo. It’s a breakfast pizza of my own design…a pillsbury thin pizza crust, bake it, add some cream cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon and cheddar, pop it back into the over to melt the cheese and voila! Yummy, eat-it-tomorrow-for-breakfast-too dinner done in about 20 minutes. I like to add muffins or fresh fruit to make it a meal. Yum, now i’m hungry!!

    I WANT SUPPER!

I was raised by a single dad who is an amazing dad but not an amazing cook, so I always laugh when people ask about family recipes. I thought about submitting a “recipe” for cooking a frozen pizza- very true to my culinary heritage. Thankfully, there have been some great people in my life to help steer me in the right direction and teach me that there is life beyond the microwave.

We love Mexican lasagna- a traditonal favorite, with a twist. Instead of lasagna noodles, it uses tortillas, and instead of ricotta it has refried beans, tomatoes, and chilis…with a bunch of other great stuff mixed in!
