Fab Freebie: Supper Management

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.

YouveGotSupper List

YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.

We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:

YouveGotSupper Burger

And now for this week’s giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I WANT SUPPER! …except I like to call it DINNER! Hehe.

I make dinner using a few well loved dishes and a few I get out of cookbooks, food blogs or that sort of thing. Mostly I love easy peasy recipes!

Our favorite way to mix up dinner is skipping it all together and just having appetizer of cheese and then dessert. Yummy

Our favorite way to mix it up for dinner is to do throwback recipes, like tater tot casserole and then wonder why our moms used to make it so much.

    I WANT SUPPER!!

Since we’re both graduate students, we are consistently busy and rarely think of dinner until our stomachs start to rumble and the inevitable question “so… what do you want for dinner?” needs to be answered. Neither of us enjoy cooking much, and, to make matters more difficult, I have a gluten allergy and tomato sensitivity. Since we’ve moved provinces (we’re in Canada) four times in the past three years, we don’t have a large base of family and friends living close to us any longer. Our latest way to escape the dinner doldrums is to do a random Google search for “cheap one-pot meals” and make whatever comes up. Of course, we have to adjust for the gluten issue and the restricted graduate-student income. Thus far, we haven’t been disappointed. Unfortunately, this tactic means frequent trips to the store for ingredients. For this reason, I’m intensely interested in “You’ve Got Supper” now.

Thanks, as always, for the helpful tips!

    I WANT SUPPER!

With five kiddos…and countless kiddo friends…for dinner every night, we’d make good use of that $100. My favorite way to mix it up for supper is a slight variation on the breakfast for supper theme. I ask my three oldest to make the breakfast and my two youngest get clean-up duty. Night off for mom, and good experience for the kids…what’s not to love?

I WANT SUPPER! We almost always head over to my parents’ house for supper. They’re 3 miles away and our little one seem to only eat Grandma’s cooking these days which is really a win-win for everyone (especially me)!

With two full time jobs, two night graduate school programs, one adult hockey league, and a side job of dance teaching mixing up dinner for the two of us consists of actually sitting down and eating together at all. Saddest part is, we’d both really like to cook if either of us had the time!

My favorite go to meal is to grill a pork tenderloin out on the charcoal grill (we buy the pre-marinated Italian style kind) then thinly slicing it and putting it on pita bread with low fat mozzarella, cucumbers, some leafy greens, plain yogurt, and Cavender’s greek seasoning! They are like a low fat gyro–kinda! We call them greek tacos and we make at least once a week and I NEVER get sick of them!!

Tacos!! So quick, easy and you can always get the “manager special” price on meat that needs to be cooked that night. Entire cost is always under $10 bucks and I eat the leftovers for days! (under $10 if you skip the corona of course!! :)

I want supper. I mix it up on a regular basis… my husband and I are vegetarians and I love. love. love feeding my omnivore friends awesome veggie meals that knock their socks off. We just had a Halloween party with crab-less cakes, stuffed mushrooms and non-meat balls. They were all a huge hit and completely gone at the end of the night… like seriously, I think someone licked the homemade BBQ sauce out of the container :)

I WANT SUPPER! I have a couple of favorite recipe blogs that I check now and again, and whenever something catches my eye I’ll print it out and put it into a recipe binder that I started. When I’m in the mood to try something new I just go through the binder and pick one. If it’s good, it goes into the binder permanently and if it’s not something we’d want to have again, I toss the recipe. My sister laughed at me when she saw my recipe binder but I love it! It’s like I’m compiling my own cookbook of only things we like!
