Fab Freebie: Supper Management

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.

YouveGotSupper List

YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.

We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:

YouveGotSupper Burger

And now for this week’s giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    I WANT SUPPER!

I love perusing recipe books more than actually doing the cooking. :) So I like to pick out something new and unusual to try, then ask my hubby to pretty please make it for me. He’s pretty great like that.

I like changing up the usual sides. Instead of meatloaf with mashed potatoes, we did meatloaf with polenta.

I love to try new things. And, I think seasonal cooking is the best. Using what is in season makes the meal more comforting.

    “I WANT SUPPER”

Sometimes if I’m hungry, want something quick, but don’t want to make anything I make a shake with frozen organic berries, frozen banana, yogurt, ground flax seed, hemp protein powder, and honey. It’s quick and satisfying. Although now with winter coming I will probably stock the freezer with homemade veggie chili and soups to pull out as quick meals.

My sister-in-laws and I plan to spend a day together and cook all day. We will each bring enough ingredients to make our favorite soup and our favorite main course. By the end of the day we have each made three different soups and three different main course. Finally, we will package them all up and freeze them. Pulling a ready-made dinner out of the freezer and adding a simple produce is the perfect end to a busy day!

    I WANT SUPPER!

We mix it up often due to the fact that I am the QUEEN of using what ever is in the fridge/freezer in a creative (and usually tasty) way. As much as I love using recipes…I’m terrible at planning an entire week’s menu and sticking to the plan. So… we usually just buy the staples and whatever else looks good at the grocery store, and my husband and I enjoy one of a kind dinners all week long ;)

So weird, last week when you guys asked us to tell you our favorite iphone app or come up with one that we would like this is exactly what I said…little did I know that there was already a website that did it for you…I should have guessed! Thanks for filling us in. I’m super excited to try it!

My favorite way to mix things up…I don’t think I have one. We’ve been so busy lately that there hasn’t been much “mixing” going on. I guess it would have to be going to my parent’s house for dinner. They have the most amazing food, drinks, and dessert…my mom could have been Martha Stewart, she’s amazing. It makes me feel like i’m on vacation and being catered to when we eat dinner at their house, love it!

If I really don’t feel like cooking, but having a lot of vegetables to use up before they go bad I just throw them all in a bit of olive oil, salt & pepper and roast them. Delicious.
