Fab Freebie: Supper Management

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.

YouveGotSupper List

YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.

We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:

YouveGotSupper Burger

And now for this week’s giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Other than eating out, my “go to” is a pasta where I can throw in everything in the fridge and it comes out delicious (hopefully).

    I WANT SUPPER!

I fix a meal every night and it seems like it is that same five dishes mixed up. I recently started going through my recipe box and pulling out different things to make once in a while. Luckily my guy doesn’t complain as long as there is food on the table!

I WANT SUPPER! For a few months now two friends and I do a weekly meal swap – we each make three family size portions of one meal, and then we get two in exchange. It’s a nice way to not have to come up with so many recipes and do so much cooking each day, just more all at once. But you’ve also got to stay on the ball for it to work.

    I want supper!

Since we moved into our rental house I require my boyfriend and myself to sit at the dining room table and have dinner at least once a week. We’re trying to be adults who eat at a ‘real table’ rather than the coffee table in front of the TV. :)

    I WANT SUPPER!

This past summer we joined a CSA (community supported agriculture). We paid a large chunk of change before the growing season started, and then every week we picked up bags full of produce, all organically grown at the farm. This meant that we had to cook with whatever was in season. Although it was overwhelming at times (so many veggies!) it was definitely a change of pace for all of our meals.

Wewill do family meal night to change things up a bit. Every family member (4 kids 2 adults) chooses, shops for and makes a part of the meal.

We always do it at Thanksgiving…and it makes it so much more fun (plus kids are learning to be quite creative!)

I WANT SUPPER! I like to mix things up and am constantly looking at cookbooks. I grew up on Chef Boy-R-Dee pizza, sloppy joes and TV dinners. I have fond memories of those meals, but wanted something a bit more health conscious for my two offspring. I don’t like making the same old same old, so I’m excited to give this website a whirl. Here’s to cookin’ good lookin’!

When we feel ourselves getting in a rut, we bring out some recipes that have kind of been phased out. Trying them again reminds us why we liked it, and it makes it back into the rotation.

Any dish that I can mix protein, grains and veggies in one big bowl is the way to go at my house. My favorite is Trader Joe’s orange chicken, mixed with brown rice and I add peas, carrots and corn. I’ve got it down to less than 20 minutes!

I WANT SUPPER! I just like to mix things up by adding something new to what I’m making at the last minute. I don’t have a lot of food on hand usually since I cook for one most of the time, but sometimes I’ll be making pasta and think “Hmm..maybe I should add some tuna” or I’ll make a salad and add in some honey mustard as well as the dressing. It’s fun to try new things and they usually come to me at the last minute.

I WANT SUPPER! and we’re always planning ahead and trying new recipes. We use different cookbooks (Fixing Dinner, the ‘Express Lane” one from Rachael Ray, etc…) and favorite family recipes. I usually make a very loose list and go with whatever is on special and in season that week at the market.
