Fab Freebie: Straight From The Art

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.

ArtfulHomeHomepage

So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?

ArtfulHomePillows

  • PRIZE: Your choice of one of the four pillows shown above (valued at $90 – $95).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the phrase “I HEART ART” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us your favorite piece of art currently in your home, whether it’s a piece of fine art made by a professional or fun art made by a preschooler.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSED: Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One and only one this week.
  • ELIGIBILITY: The prize ships to anywhere in the US and Canada.
  • THE USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Ok, while my favorite piece of art is not on the same level as those already mentioned it is still priceless – my grandson’s first drawing for me framed as a christmas gift when he was one. He is now 18 months old and has moved on to sidewalk chalk!

    I HEART ART!

I have to say that my favorite piece of art in my home isn’t in my home just yet but is a work in progress. My best friend and man of honor (yes, thats right…my MAN of honr) at my wedding is a ridiculously talented artist. He is going to take one of my fav wedding pics of our venue (Mint Museum of Craft & Design in Charlote, NC) and turn it into a huge painting for our living room. This way everyday I get to come home to a lovely little reminder of our wedding day and the best friend a girl could have.

My favorite is a large picture of Mount Timpanogos and Stewart Falls, by Willie Holdman, that my siblings gave us as a wedding gift. It is almost the exact view we saw while exchanging vows.

My favorite piece of art has to be the framed wedding photo we have with our guests’ signatures on the matting. I know so many people have this now, but I love a constant reminder of our friends and family being a part of our day – and our lives! (Guess it’s not technically art, but oh well!)

    I heart art!

My favorite piece of art in my home is actually a picture from the hubby and I’s engagement shoot. I made an 11×17 print of it – but it’s NOT the typical engagement pic. It’s basically the two of us walking toward a GIANT tree in Ann Arbor MI (where we both went to college). We look so tiny in the presence of this huge tree – you can barely tell it is even us. And that’s what I like about it. We know it is us, but everybody else thinks it’s a great photo of a huge old tree.

    I HEART ART

Easy question…by far my favorite piece of art was created for my 1st child by my wife and I. But all the other people that we knew would assist us in raising our child had a “hand” in this piece of art.

We obtained a piece of large canvas and prepared it like a painter would prepare it for an oil painting. Then we had our friends and family dip their hands in paint and press them on the canvas. We shipped the canvas around the states for all the grandparents and relatives to place their mark. It was so much fun! The final piece was protected and padding was placed on the bottom and used as a rug her room. We really loved the personality and symbology of it.
