I’M HAUTE!! I picked up this little mid century club chair in need of a reupholster for FREE on the curb one day.
    1. It was free
    2. It actually fit in the back of my car
    3. it was from a local designer in SF, made 1962
    4. all it needed was a reupholster, which I could do myself.
Once i got it in my car, I realized how BAD it smelled. Brought it home and THEN realized… it had dog poo on it! so gross, but I laugh about it now. Put on gloves and a mask, ripped all the pooey upholstery off and recovered it. Now its recovered and beautiful and is my favorite chair. And it has a hilarious (stinky) story! :D

I’M HAUTE…and I scored a FREE dining room set from 1953…in mint condition. Okay…it was my grandparents’ old set, but they weren’t planning to give it away and my husband and I (then fiance’) made such a pitiful request that they gave it to us (and had it refinished in time for our wedding, for good measure)! We saved hundreds and have an heirloom dining set we’ll use forever!

I loved your thrift store coffee table in your living room so much, I set out on a mission to find one that’s similar. So, I “craiglisted” Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn and found the Pottery Barn version for $50! Days later, I received the Pottery Barn mag in the mail featuring the same coffee table for $400! Nothing makes me happier than a great deal!

I’M HAUTE! The best deal I scored was a leather jacket (“for freeeeee!”). My dad bought it for my mom for Christmas last year. Well, it was a little snug on her and I said, “Hmm, you know… that looks like it would fit me perfectly!” So I tried it on and sure enough it fits me perfectly. My dad said, “Yeah, it looks really good on you. You can have it.” Score! :o)

Almost 2 years ago we were in the market for a new mattress. I went on Mattress Firm’s website and on the title tag (typically blue bar at the very top of your window) had MF’s tag line– but it was misspelled: “Where its easy to get a great night’s sleep.” So I emailed the webmaster & casually asked, “Since I found this, is there any way I can get a discount?” YES! She gave me the family and friends discount of 25% off a new mattress & box spring. I have an eye for finding grammar/spelling mistakes, so I am incredibly proud to tell that story. Damn right I get a discount because your website is wrong!

I’m haute! Love this website it has so many wonderful deals and steals I don’t know where to start. My best all time snag for the new casa was an 8 by 10 rug from NuLoom that I scored for just $150.00 bucks down from $500.00. The rug suits our new dining room perfectly and everyone who drops by loves it, almost as much as I love the price!

My best deal, so far, is the green couch I scored from Craigslist for $300 – it was practically new, and has been with me 4 years and counting without showing any wear! The only bad part of that deal was that the couch was being sold because of a couple’s break up.

I bought a bunch of stuff at a garage sale from an old schoolhouse for about $20. Among the many items I scored were 3 wooden school chairs and a long bench like from a gymnasium. I sanded and painted the chairs with green milk paint and they are great additions to the home. We use the bench outside our front door.
