Who doesn’t love a sale? Especially when it’s to the tune of 50-75% off retail. Well that’s exactly how HauteLook rolls when it comes to creating 48-hour deeply discounted sales on home items (as well as clothing and beauty stuff too). A new sale pops up every morning at 11am EST, but here’s a sampling of what was up for grabs last week:

Hautelook Tiles

And one of you is gonna get $100 to spend on HauteLook this week, meaning you could snag items like an $850 graphic rug for just 80 bucks out of your own pocket. Not too shabby…

Hautelook Rugs

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M HAUTE” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about the all-time best deal you’ve ever scored. Was it an incredible sale that landed you a deep discount? Or maybe you bartered your way to something for free?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

“I’M HAUTE” To me good deals usually come when you least expect them. I fell in love with an antique looking white mirror from west elm that was advertised for $380 and since it was really big (about 50″ high) they would charge extra for shipping. The total would’ve been over $400. Imagine my surprise when I saw one similar to it (even better), hand made from wood in a second hand store! Best of all, I paid only $60 and all I had to do is paint it white.

Best deal I’ve scored as of late:
At the beginning of the month, I was headed home from a vacay in Vegas. So, we get to the airport to check in, and our flight is delayed. So when it’s finally time to board, ooops. Flight delayed again. And again. So, I get on my smartphone and realize we weren’t going to make it home that day because of our connections unless we get the last two seats on this ONE particular different flight. These last two seats were FIRST CLASS. Delta was super about it. No questions asked or him-hawing around. Major props to Delta. Those two seats ONE WAY were twice what we paid for our round trip tickets in coach.

I’ve gotten a ton of great deals, which I love. Recently I found a great bookcase on craigslist for $35. I had been looking at all the stores like IKEA, West Elm, Target, Crate and Barrel, Pier 1, Cost Plus World Market for a black bookshelf to go in my living room. There were a ton of varieties at these stores and at different prices but none felt right. The bookshelf I ended up getting on craigslist was not painted so I bought black paint and went at it. It looks great and I spent under $50! (could have spent almost $500)

My fiance and I scored a tv on Craigslist that originally retailed for $15,500 (who even knew TVs could COST that much?!?) and ended up getting it for $500 – I teach negotiation and he’s an MBA but that’s even a fantastic deal for US. We actually ended up buying a ton of stuff from the guy, all in all over $18k worth of stuff and we paid just over $800. Score.
