***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Who doesn’t love a sale? Especially when it’s to the tune of 50-75% off retail. Well that’s exactly how HauteLook rolls when it comes to creating 48-hour deeply discounted sales on home items (as well as clothing and beauty stuff too). A new sale pops up every morning at 11am EST, but here’s a sampling of what was up for grabs last week:

Hautelook Tiles

And one of you is gonna get $100 to spend on HauteLook this week, meaning you could snag items like an $850 graphic rug for just 80 bucks out of your own pocket. Not too shabby…

Hautelook Rugs

Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on HauteLook.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M HAUTE” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about the all-time best deal you’ve ever scored. Was it an incredible sale that landed you a deep discount? Or maybe you bartered your way to something for free?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

This giveaway’s random winner is… Valerie J (who’s scored a $4000 Restoration Hardware armoire for only $315 just because the top crown molding was busted). Congrats!

My best deal was when I answered a Craigslist as for a china cabinet. The ad had no picture and I drove an hour to see it based on a description. My wife’s only sure no was if it was too small. Well it wasn’t. For $100 I snagged a huge 5′ W x 7’T solid wood cabinet and hutch with sliding glass panes doors that would otherwise sell for at least several hundreds more and is our prize piece of furniture

I love a good deal, but my favorite frugal success stories are when I am able to actually walk away with lots of purchases for $0 (or just a very small amount) because of coupons and sales. Happens a lot at CVS and my grocery store!

    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

I’M HAUTE! I found a beautiful blue dress at salvation army for $12 dollars. It was wednesday (and some of them do 50% off of EVERYTHING after 5pm so I waited half an hour until then..) so a $6 dress that I get complimented on everytime I wear it- and its suitable for so many activities. The best part…I just toss it into the washer and it comes out perfect, and never wrinkles. I would have paid $100 for this dress after seeing how great it works for me.

I’M HAUTE! Almost everything about our house was a deal — from the purchase price to all the stuff we’ve been buying to renovate it. We’re all about auctions, overstocks, floor models and calling in favors… We’ve bought beautiful hardwood flooring for $1 a square foot, a $4,000 range for $1,000 and super energy efficient windows for about $10 each. The only catch is that you have to wait around for deals to come up, and that means lots of patience and living without things for long periods. But it’s worth it in the end!

My best deals come from online fabric discounters for sure. I just purchased 30 yards of Duralee Kalah, a lovely ikat print seen everywhere these days, for a whopping $150. That’s $600 off the retail price…now if only I could motivate myself to actually sew the curtains.

My husband and I hardly buy anything at full-price (no one should have to anymore!) After searching for a few months, we scored our solid cherry oak sleigh bed and two matching night stands off of craigslist for $200. We also just picked up a sectional couch that our neighbors had out by their trash. Free! Doesn’t get much better than that!

Gilt Groupe is similar to HauteLook and you get a $25 credit when someone you “invite” makes a purchase. I went to buy a stack of bracelets (originally $150, marked down to $45). With a $25 credit I had, I figured I was only paying $20 plus shipping – great deal! Turns out there was a marketing promotion where I had another credit in there! So I got $150 bracelets for F-R-E-E!!!!! :)

We scored our super large and comfy West Elm ottoman for $50 out of pocket. It was a floor model, so it was knocked down to $250. On top of that, we cashed in credit card rewards for $150 in gift cards and used that toward the ottoman’s purchase. That was 6 months ago and I still get excited when I think about it.

the best deal was recently at a big furniture store called leon’s. we were buying a new fridge, dishwasher, above stove microwave/fan, and we threw in a 42 inch flatscreen for good measure. my husband went up to pay and a sales clerk came to me and said my husband steered him to me with the scratchy cards we didnt know were happening. i picked one and scratched it, and wasnt surprised when i saw the 5 and the %. it was the 0 that threw me, as in 50%, as in 50% off our purchase!!!!!!!!! i screamed across the store ITS F-ING 50% OFF (except i swore full on) to my husband despite the presence of both kids who are under 3. he screamed back YOU’RE SHI–ING ME!! we’re all class, baby. but it was AMAZING.
