Fab Freebie: Ready, Eames, Fire

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

This giveaway hit our 10,000 entry cap just a few hours before usual closing time, so random.org had its work cut out for it picking a winner. They selected… Kelsey (who thinks “an Eames chair is the foundation to a good collection”). Congrats on your new foundation piece!

Who wants to win an Eames chair this week? Better yet – who wants to win several Eames chairs this week? Well, one of you is going to, because the folks at the Herman Miller Store are gonna hook you up with $2,000 worth of product! That’s enough to choose practically anything from their catalog of iconic furniture pieces from award-winning designers. And even if you don’t score the grand prize, they’re offering up a discount to everyone that could save you some serious dough on that statement piece that you’ve been pining for. Check out all the details below.

Would you give anything to hang an original Andy Warhol piece on your walls? Or are you still trying to catch your breath over the thought of having an Eames chair in your home?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Aug 8th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

    Miller Me!

I almost gasped out loud when I saw this giveaway. Love it! I would either go for the classic lounger (my husband reeeeeally wants one) or the shell chair rocker that I’ve been eyeing for a few years.

I heart Monet. I always love looking at the water lilies artwork for their beauty and the fact that it looks totally different from up close and far away.

I don’t have a favorite name to throw out, but my absolute favorite furniture style is mid century modern. I have a lovely dresser I got for a STEAL but I can’t find matching nightstands even close to my budget… I guess the people with the stands know the worth.. drat!

ooo, ah, gasp, MILLER ME! You can’t get much more iconic than the Eames team, especially since their work encompassed all aspects and scales of design from art to architecture. Love! I am also inspired by more recent architects: Tadao Ando (Church of Light), Peter Zumthor (check out his St. Benedict’s Chapel and Therme Vals), and for anyone who likes FLW look at E. Fay Jone’s Thorncrown Chapel, not so much houses, but so amazing!

MILLER ME! I have always loved Magritte for his surrealist paintings (like the man in the bowler hat with the apple covering his face). As an artist myself, they spoke to me in a way that said art can be playful and meaningful… not just beautiful.

Miller Me! Who wouldn’t do anything for an Eames lounge chair or a Noguchi table! But my favorite furniture designer of all time is Marcel Breuer, who designed the Wassily chair. Seriously–I have loooved this chair since I was in my teens, and always dreamed I would make a place for it in my future home. I since have had other Breuer chairs–bentwood ones, and wicker and steel ones–but never the Wassily. Still love it, and thinking it might be time to spring for one–or two. The Wassily is sleek shiny metal and warm, rich leather. Its angles and airiness are eye candy. The Wassily is sculpture that invites you to interact with it. So here I am, 30-ish years later after I first laid eyes on the Wassily, and it is still something that I love. Talk about timeless design!
