Fab Freebie: Ready, Eames, Fire

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

This giveaway hit our 10,000 entry cap just a few hours before usual closing time, so random.org had its work cut out for it picking a winner. They selected… Kelsey (who thinks “an Eames chair is the foundation to a good collection”). Congrats on your new foundation piece!

Who wants to win an Eames chair this week? Better yet – who wants to win several Eames chairs this week? Well, one of you is going to, because the folks at the Herman Miller Store are gonna hook you up with $2,000 worth of product! That’s enough to choose practically anything from their catalog of iconic furniture pieces from award-winning designers. And even if you don’t score the grand prize, they’re offering up a discount to everyone that could save you some serious dough on that statement piece that you’ve been pining for. Check out all the details below.

HermanMillerGiveaway

  • PRIZE: $2,000 worth of product from the Herman Miller Store
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MILLER ME!” and tell us…

Would you give anything to hang an original Andy Warhol piece on your walls? Or are you still trying to catch your breath over the thought of having an Eames chair in your home?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Aug 8th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)

    MILLER ME!

I can’t really pick one particular designer – I just love all the stuff that is now considered mid century modern. We live in a 1950’s ranch, but there are some real mid-mod beauties in our area that I ogle everytime I drive by. It’s really inspired me to stay true to the roots of our house when we update things.

I just got a basic fiberglass chair (nothing special, but still fun!)…would look lovely with the new chair I’ll buy when I win :)

I’ve always liked industrial things so I gravitate towards Miller, Eames and the like.

I follow in my Dad’s footsteps in loving the craftsman designs of Frank Lloyd Wright. I have books, watch documentaries on his life and design, and have visited Taliesin West on vacation. It was so cool to see the space and how well it is incorporated into the nature of the desert – looking forward to seeing more of his work!

I am an architectural designer and am on course to become a licensed architect. I am literally OBSESSED with Charles and Ray Eames. I admire their designs, their quirky sense of humor, and the love and admiration they have for each other. Their designs, the technology they created to build their furniture, and their use of materials broke boundaries in modernism. Not only did they produce beautiful pieces, but they took pride in making them comfortable and practice. It’s funny, if you asked them, they would say their designs were never finalized. They were constantly making revisions and new iterations. Their personal home is the epitome of their personality. One day, I will finally convince my boyfriend to reenact one of their photos! (wishful thinking) But, I am not biased, I also love all things Bauhaus, Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe.

I’m not so sure I have a specific style, but if I had to pick I am a huge fan of craftsman homes. I love the clean lines and the simplicity of it all. We just bought six Herman Miller cubicles for our office and the chairs would go perfectly!

Yep, you hit the nail on the head— Frank Lloyd Wright is my fave. His houses and designs were always ahead of his time and like another comment-er said, I do love his work scattered around Chicago (where my family lives). I do like Andy Warhol artwork and would LOVE to have an original in my home– but yes, all I can think of right now is EAMES, EAMES, EAMES!
