Fab Freebie: Ready, Eames, Fire

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

This giveaway hit our 10,000 entry cap just a few hours before usual closing time, so random.org had its work cut out for it picking a winner. They selected… Kelsey (who thinks “an Eames chair is the foundation to a good collection”). Congrats on your new foundation piece!

Who wants to win an Eames chair this week? Better yet – who wants to win several Eames chairs this week? Well, one of you is going to, because the folks at the Herman Miller Store are gonna hook you up with $2,000 worth of product! That’s enough to choose practically anything from their catalog of iconic furniture pieces from award-winning designers. And even if you don’t score the grand prize, they’re offering up a discount to everyone that could save you some serious dough on that statement piece that you’ve been pining for. Check out all the details below.

Would you give anything to hang an original Andy Warhol piece on your walls? Or are you still trying to catch your breath over the thought of having an Eames chair in your home?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Aug 8th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

MILLER ME! Wow, what an awesome giveaway :) I really love Roy Lichtenstein’s art. I love his use of primary colors and tiny dots, and the cartoon-like quality in a lot of his work. My sister is actually working on a series of 3 canvas paintings inspired by Lichtenstein for my dining room right now. Thanks for another amazing giveaway!

Miller me! I loooove anything Frank Lloyd Wright. I think it’s pretty cool that when he was young, his parents filled his nursery with photographs of incredible architecture, and he ended up doing such amazing work! One of his houses is down the street from me, it’s awesome to be able to walk by it everyday!

    MILLER ME!
If I have to pick just one “classic designer”, I will go with George Nelson.

I admire the simplicity of Mid-Century Modern design and the inherent beauty that comes with that. So much so, that I curated an exhibition of Mid-Century Modern design at the art museum I work for in North Carolina.

I am not a curator for the museum on a full time basis (I actually install the exhibits), but I do love Mid-Century Modern design and wanted to share the things I had learned about mid-20th century modernism, as well as the designers of the NC State University School of Design (started in 1948 and now called the NC State College of Design). It was the forefathers of this school (Henry Kamphoefner, Matthew Nowicki, George Matsumoto, Buckminster Fuller, Edwardo Catalano, etc.) that really piqued my interest in this design aesthetic.

In this exhibit I put together, I displayed George Nelson, Mies Van der Rhoe, Ray and Charles Eames, Cristian Dior, George Nakashima, Russel Wright, Herbert Von Thaden and Donald Lewis Jordan who made up Thaden-Jordan Furniture Corporation of Roanoke, VA, Eero Saarinen and many many others. Among the furniture pieces, there were several Herman Miller tags. I would love to win this drawing and begin to curate my own home with the best producer of design!

If you want to see more about the exhibit, go to…

Miller Me! Currently my style/taste is evolving so it’s hard to pinpoint a designer I’m in love with currently. Although I am really into the clean yet rustic swedish style right now :) I’ve always been a fan of the impressionists and as odd as it may sound, there is a french tattoo artist (xoil) who creates some seriously amazing pieces.
