I’ve read several articles / webposts where someone will talk about discovering an Eames chair “out on the sidewalk to be picked up by the garbage truck” in NYC or “at a yard sale for $50,” and I always say to myself, who are these people and how can I be one of them?!? The idea of owning a piece of art that is not only nice to look at but totally and fully functional (a la Eames Lounge and Ottoman) is really incredible and I hope it happens to me one day (either serendipitously or maybe even through this contest!).

Miller Me Please. I’ve really enjoyed the work of Colorado artist Vance Kirkland. He would paint what he thought the universe looked using brillants pops of color. When pictures from the Hubbel telescope came down, years after he created his paintings, they were strikingly similar. His works are amazing.
