Fab Freebie: Moore Candice To Love

*** This contest is now closed – see who won below!***

And this week’s random winner is… Stacy (who says “when I was little, I got the local radio dj’s autograph and thought I was so cool! Looking back, it is just funny how silly it was!”). Congrats Stacy!

We love us some Candice Olson (and still pinch ourselves that our faces share a webpage with her over on BenjaminMoore.com). So we sweet talked our way into a little Benjamin Moore / Candice Olson prize for you guys – including a signed copy of her latest book, Candice Olson Bedrooms. So once you’ve torn yourself away from petting her signature (not that we’d do that, ok we totally would) and are ready to put that Olson-spiration to use, Benjamin Moore’s gonna lend a hand with two gallons of their Aura paint, a 7-piece applicator kit, a $50 gift card, and your very own Candice Olson Design Picks fan deck. And if that’s not enough of a Candice fix for ya, you can enter to win a personal design consultation from her over on Benjamin Moore’s site.

Benjamin Moore Giveaway2

  • PRIZE: Two gallons of Aura paint, a 7-piece applicator kit, $50 gift card, a Candice Olson Design Picks fan deck and signed copy of Candice Olson Bedrooms courtesy of Benjamin Moore.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MOORE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what other autograph have you snagged? Did you get your favorite band to sign an album cover? Or receive a signed letter from a big name public figure? Maybe you got a big novelty check signed by Ed McMahon? Or just a sweet crayon-drawing signed by a niece or nephew?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Sept 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada (we couldn’t leave out Candice’s homeland!)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Benjamin Moore.

    MOORE ME!!!

As a classical music junky and a very novice violinist, I was thrilled to get an autograph from Joshua Bell. The autograph I’ve most treasured, though, is from my little man, my four year old son.

    MOORE ME!

I’ve gotten a few autographs, all from country music artists, but my favorite one ever is one that I got from Faith Hill when she first came out and was an opening act. I think I was about 11 or 12 at the time, and my mom won tickets to see her with Alan Jackson…with box seats, and a meet & greet with Faith. I still remember just how amazingly sweet and lovely she was. The sad part though? The concert ended up being canceled (after we were already there) because Alan had a throat problem. When we were walking out of the arena, the raging wind blew my picture and autograph right out of my hand, and they were gone forever. :(
So I have no proof…but I’ll never forget it!!!

    More Me

The best autograph that I have in my possession was actually snagged by my grandmother as a gift for my mother. She waited in line for 8 hours when my mother was a child and got a copy of “Fox in Socks” signed by Dr. Suess himself. Absolutely a treasure that we hold dear to our hearts.

Moore me! I have collected several autographs growing up; the most notable when I was traveling alone one summer. I ran into several WWE (back then WWF) wrestlers in an airport. Not many folks recognized them, but I very shyly asked ‘Big Show’ to sign the book I was holding because it was all I had.. He laughed so hard and passed the book aroind to everyone. They were very friendly, but I’m sure they all remember the girl who had them sign her Harry Potter book!

    Autographs?

I have Ree from Pioneer Woman…she had a book signing in my town, and I have Anne Rice, from years ago, but still love her…that was at the same book store, which is sadly closing. :-(

Oh and Paul Westerberg, from The Replacements…who is like a total idol for me. He did an in store performance and signing when I lived in Boston. Totally such a thrill to meet him!

When I was a kid I was obsessed with the movie My Girl. I wrote a fan letter to Anna Chlumsky and received an autographed photo back from her. I thought that was the coolest thing ever.

I never get autographs anymore, though. In my job, I’ve had run ins with quite a few celebrities and it always makes me feel skeevy now to ask for autographs, so I just don’t.

Moore Me! I have an autographed photo from the guy who created the Yoda puppet (whose name is completely escaping me right now). I didn’t actually meet him, but he runs a little museum/shop on St. Marten and my parents were there and picked up the photo as a gift for their nerdy Star Wars loving child.

I actually never had anything autographed because I don’t like to wait in lines for an autograph and I always felt awkward when it was time to actually meet the person who wrote or performed something.

I got Amy Tan’s signature on “The Opposite of Fate,” which I love. I had read that she is afraid of stalky people, which I am, so after waiting in line to meet her for FOREVER I froze and couldn’t say anything because I knew if I spoke I would sound crazy and thus scare my favorite author. I didn’t want that to be my legacy.
    But I need that paint!

I have a few autographs by one of my favorite authors Neil Gaiman. As a young woman I even had him sign a book to my daughter when she was 2… “The Day I Swapped My Dad For Two Goldfish”. He was very kind about it and signed it “Best Fishes” in neat letters which made her LOL when she was a little older.

Growing up in Florida, we used to go watch spring training for the Cards and Mets, so I have everyone from Dwight Gooden to Darryl Strawberry to Ozzie Smith (my fave).
