For our wedding we sent out signature requests to several “famous” people that my husband and I enjoy. Our favorite was author Clive Cussler because he actually wrote us a nice little letter giving us advance on keeping a happy relationship. We also got congrats from Martha Stewart, Seth Macfarland, several Carolina Panther football players, Emily Deschanel and others. All were added to a scrapbook that was filled with friends and family well wishes from our wedding day.

In 7th grade we had a an English project where we had to write to a celebrity and see if you could get them to write back. I wrote to Brian Boitano (the Olympics were that year) and he sent back his autogrpah.

MOORE ME! I am incredibly dorky and shy when it comes to asking for autographs, so I tend to stick to book signings, where I don’t feel (as) weird asking for someone’s autograph b/c they are paid to do it. But somehow I still manage to say something stupid and embarrass not only myself but the people I’m with. :)
That said, I have about 10 different David Sedaris autographs, since he comes to Pittsburgh often and is a class act when it comes to signing things.

My house (and a few former homes) has a signature – my own on the back of some drywall or a stud somewhere – usually in the basement stairwell.
My current place is 105 years old – when the electricians moved the electric meter from inside to out (to meet code) they uncovered a pine board from 1913, signed by the original home owner, the electrician, and the foreman. It also included the words ‘Raining like a son of a bitch, October 29, 1913’. Imagine my delight when I found that little gem!
