Fab Freebie: Moore Candice To Love

*** This contest is now closed – see who won below!***

And this week’s random winner is… Stacy (who says “when I was little, I got the local radio dj’s autograph and thought I was so cool! Looking back, it is just funny how silly it was!”). Congrats Stacy!

We love us some Candice Olson (and still pinch ourselves that our faces share a webpage with her over on BenjaminMoore.com). So we sweet talked our way into a little Benjamin Moore / Candice Olson prize for you guys – including a signed copy of her latest book, Candice Olson Bedrooms. So once you’ve torn yourself away from petting her signature (not that we’d do that, ok we totally would) and are ready to put that Olson-spiration to use, Benjamin Moore’s gonna lend a hand with two gallons of their Aura paint, a 7-piece applicator kit, a $50 gift card, and your very own Candice Olson Design Picks fan deck. And if that’s not enough of a Candice fix for ya, you can enter to win a personal design consultation from her over on Benjamin Moore’s site.

Benjamin Moore Giveaway2

  • PRIZE: Two gallons of Aura paint, a 7-piece applicator kit, $50 gift card, a Candice Olson Design Picks fan deck and signed copy of Candice Olson Bedrooms courtesy of Benjamin Moore.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MOORE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what other autograph have you snagged? Did you get your favorite band to sign an album cover? Or receive a signed letter from a big name public figure? Maybe you got a big novelty check signed by Ed McMahon? Or just a sweet crayon-drawing signed by a niece or nephew?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Sept 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada (we couldn’t leave out Candice’s homeland!)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Benjamin Moore.

I think my best autograph ever was Robert Plant. I bumped flat into him a few years ago at a showing of Spamalot here in NYC. He apologized for not looking where he was going and was a perfect gentleman.

Moore Me! The only “celebrity” signature I ever got was from Denny Terrio. He hosted a show called Dance Fever back in the early 80’s. he also taught John Travolta how to dance in prepartion for Saturday Night Fever. We were from the same hometown and my mom worked with his sister. Yeah- not too impressive!!

MOORE ME! I sent a birthday party invitation (I know I am a loser) to Prince William and Princess Kate (I love her!) and recieved back a reply (declining, of course, haha) from Priness Kate’s lady in waiting. So not a real autograph, but a real letter from thier office, on their stationery. I was pretty stoked about that :)

My husband collects autographs and my favorite of his is a Walt Disney. It’s special because it’s large in size and is an actual autograph instead of just a signed pay check.

We even got to speak to the lady who got the autograph some 50 years ago. She worked at a food stand at Disneyland the year it opened and Walt loved the chili there – so he signed the back of an order ticket for her after a little persuasion.

MOORE ME!!! Once my parents took us to see David Copperfield when I was 10 or so- I waited in a huge line to get his autograph and when they handed me back the “signed” program. It was like some sloppy star. I said to him “Excuse me- but this doesn’t look like your name– This isn’t an autograph..” I was quickly given the boot by his bodyguards.. I shoulda never waited. He was just a short skinny dude in a puffy shirt, lots of makeup and overteased hair. It was wierd.

When I was in college the band Guster came and played at our spring fest. I didnt know the band that well but my friend was a huge fan, so afterwards we waited outside to meet them and get autographs. When they came out they told us it was their last night on the tour bus and started giving away food they had on board. I got a box of Raisin Bran, which the entire band signed. I still have the box, complete with still sealed cereal inside.

An autographed postcard of a tour guide named “Candi” from some family trip that I found in my husband’s stuff from the 90s (yes, the “i” was dotted with a heart). I think it’s so funny to think about how at 10 he probably thought she was the bee’s knees, it cracks me up.

I am a little embarrassed to admit, but I once got an autograph from Debbie Gibson…..when she was WAY past being Debbie Gibson, and was now referring to herself as “Deborah Gibson”. I think she was at a Borders bookstore to promote her now “grown up” album of piano music or something….but I HAD to have an old Debbie Gibson music video VHS autographed by her to send to my old college roommate. Her music was our “silly, dance around, while we are supposed to be studying” music our freshman year in college (long ago!) so sending her the autographed VHS was a MUST! I don’t think Deborah appreciated having to sign an ancient VHS when I was supposed to be buying her new stuff, but I stood in line a long time and my roommate LOVED it! (I gave it to her as part of her Bachelorette party gift before she strapped on the old ball n chain! : )
