It was in 1996 after Canadian Sprinter Donovan Bailey won the gold medal in the Olympics and my grade 8 class was running at a meet in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Donovan Bailey and his 4×100 pals (who also won gold!) were there signing autographs. I was in grade 7 and was up next to get my signature from the fastest man in the world! He looked at me, I immediately melted but held it together long enough to hand over my paper, watch him sign it, reach for it and yell “You are fast, strong, AND THE HOTTEST MAN IN THE UNIVERSE!”.
…and then I ran away.

I have ZERO luck with celebrities–even when they’re teeming in my hometown during TIFF! The closest I’ve gotten to a celeb autograph is an autograph from my favourite hockey player, Doug Gilmour (Toronto Maple Leaf alum).

MOORE ME, no autographs but we were watching a local band at the Monmouth County Fair years ago.My DH deducted that the guitarist was Bruce Springteen.(he likes to show up places) He ran to the side of the stage and when Bruce came off he handed my husband his guitar (thinking he was a rodie) No, my husband did not get to keep the guitar but he shook Bruce’s hand . My husband was sooo happy. It’s a Jersey thing ;)

Just this past weekend I got signatures from a few of the Women’s USA soccer team players (and Olympic Gold Medalists mind you)!

The only thing I’ve gotten sign is a CD I got while in Brazil. While in Manaus outside of the theater they had a stage set up and also a screen off to the side playing some movies. There was a band playing (can’t think of their name unless I find the CD sorry) when we were walking around that we caught the end of. When we went to get their CD the lead guitarist was there and signed my copy. Also while in Manaus we saw a race outside of our hotel window of different restaurants with their waiter/waitresses carrying trays. Was fun and probably the best couple of days of our trip.

On my 21th birthday I went to a Papa Vegas concert and at the end one of my friends caught the drumstick thrown out into the crowd and gave it to me. One of the wives of the musicians took me around backstage and helped me get all of their autographs on it, except, ironically, the drummer’s.
