Fab Freebie: Moore Candice To Love

*** This contest is now closed – see who won below!***

And this week’s random winner is… Stacy (who says “when I was little, I got the local radio dj’s autograph and thought I was so cool! Looking back, it is just funny how silly it was!”). Congrats Stacy!

We love us some Candice Olson (and still pinch ourselves that our faces share a webpage with her over on BenjaminMoore.com). So we sweet talked our way into a little Benjamin Moore / Candice Olson prize for you guys – including a signed copy of her latest book, Candice Olson Bedrooms. So once you’ve torn yourself away from petting her signature (not that we’d do that, ok we totally would) and are ready to put that Olson-spiration to use, Benjamin Moore’s gonna lend a hand with two gallons of their Aura paint, a 7-piece applicator kit, a $50 gift card, and your very own Candice Olson Design Picks fan deck. And if that’s not enough of a Candice fix for ya, you can enter to win a personal design consultation from her over on Benjamin Moore’s site.

Benjamin Moore Giveaway2

  • PRIZE: Two gallons of Aura paint, a 7-piece applicator kit, $50 gift card, a Candice Olson Design Picks fan deck and signed copy of Candice Olson Bedrooms courtesy of Benjamin Moore.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MOORE ME” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what other autograph have you snagged? Did you get your favorite band to sign an album cover? Or receive a signed letter from a big name public figure? Maybe you got a big novelty check signed by Ed McMahon? Or just a sweet crayon-drawing signed by a niece or nephew?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Sept 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada (we couldn’t leave out Candice’s homeland!)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Benjamin Moore.

    MOORE ME

When I was in elementary school, my cousins and I wrote love letters to Dean Cain. We received signed postcards from him – of course they were printed signatures, but we didn’t mind!

Here’s my fun autograph story: When I was a young kid i used to have an autograph book that I would get friends to sign at camp or whatever. When I was in high school I looked through it and found one of my current friends was apparently in camp with me when I was much younger, and neither one of us remembered it!

MOORE ME, please! I’ve been remodeling my home one room at a time (ok, it’s more like a project here, a project there in many rooms all the time, depending on time, money, and energy level) for the past 3 years. My 8-year-old son’s room is the only one that looks finished–his was the first room I tackled, to help him feel at home in our post-divorce house. Since then, I’ve gutted and redone his bathroom, fixed up my bathroom, updated the living room, and totally gutted the kitchen and tore down walls. (And when I say “I’ve gutted”, I mean I wielded the sledgehammer all by my 5’2″ self.) Throughout all of this, I’ve kept Candice Olsen’s design perspective in my mind’s eye–especially in my new kitchen that has a chandelier, crystal pendant lights, and a glass-and-marble mosaic backsplash. Even though my home is small and modest, it doesn’t mean it can’t have a bit of the glamour and polished look that Candace brings to every room she designs.

I really need to win this prize because NOTHING has been done in my bedroom yet and I can’t wait to get rid of the dingy peach paint and freshen the whole space. It’s time that this working mom has a peaceful place to go to relax, instead of the most neglected space in the house. Having Candace’s book to help me make good decisions (and a couple gallons of paint) would be wonderful!

Bonus answer: When I was 7 and my sister was 8, a maid at a hotel we were staying at told us that Carol Burnett was staying there. You two are probably too young to remember, but my sister and I loved her show. After bugging more maids and room service delivery boys, we found out what floor she was on. We then knocked on every door on the floor until we got the right one. Her daughter answered and let us in to see her. I was too shy/in awe to speak, but my sister managed to tell her that we loved her. Thankfully, she didn’t call security. The next morning when we woke up, we each had a signed autograph on our pillows.

MOORE ME! This is borderline embarrassing, but the only autograph I’ve successfully snagged was from Nick Carter of The Backstreet Boys fame. He’s from my hometown and I ran into him at the mall so of course I HAD to have him sign my American Eagle bag!

This is going to sound utterly insane, but I grew up in a very small, very sheltered, very WHITE town in Canada. When I went to Los Angeles for the first time at the age of seven, I got the autograph of our airport shuttle driver, the first black person I’d ever seen in real life. He was surprisingly really nice about it.
