Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

Match me! I suppose you could say my best friend acted as a matchmaker – she called me one day (after two years of knowing her) and told me I should go on a date with her brother. Well, we’ve now been married for 8 years and have three little kiddos… so I guess you could say it was successful! :-)

    MATCH ME!

I have tried to set all of my roommates up and each one has ended horribly. My boyfriend now bans me from playing matchmaker-sad face. On a happy note, after the failed matches my roommates had now ended up in happy relationships that had absolutely nothing to do with me!

Match Me! I think I’m the anti-matchmaker. I tried to keep two of my friends apart in college because the boy was such a player (though I still loved him dearly) and I thought my girlfriend was waaaay to good for him. Thankfully, I failed, and they have been happily married for 7 years with 3 beautiful boys.

Match me! I tried to play matchmaker for myself and a friend and sent a post card to a guy friend that we were driving through his town on our cross country trip and he should tell all his eligible friends we were coming. He kept the postcard to himself and he and I ended up getting married a few years later…so I’m not sure who was the matchmaker here..him or me..but it all worked out for the best in the end….

I’ve tried to play matchmaker for one of my best friends several times, and every time was a complete and utter disaster. She was finally “matched” by another friend of hers that definitely had the magic-match-touch because she recently married him. No more matchmaking for me! :)

    MATCH ME!

I had unsuccessfully set up my favorite friend with someone that I eventually dated. He was a friend of a boy I was dating but he was very obviously interested in me on our double date. While it was incredibly awkward at the time, and I chose to dislike him quite passionately for months after. His sense of humor won me over (his friend and I were not a love match and only went on a couple dates)and we were together for a short while after I realized he would make a better friend than boyfriend. My friend had no hard feelings whatsoever! UGH! That was like 15 years ago!

Before me and hubs were married we fixed one of his friends up w/one of my friends. Long story short, she called me to pick her up on the side of the road. Apparently she couldn’t stand him any longer and asked to be let out of the car, on the side of the road. That was our 1st and last match making experience!
